Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
Yes, in have a doctorates in alternative systems of medicine, and I been practicing and servicing in the massage industry for over 30 years now. I'm always squeezing in New life (clients) when I have openings. I'm extremely busy 7 days a week + I also have overnight Emergency Appointments too. I expanded my services to include men's facials, microderm abrasion, body wraps, men's man scaping services because no salon does this for men ($$$$) money maker, professional prostate massage for patients who suffer from enlarged prostate, just like some clinics do colonics, I added my own skincare line, I do constitutional evaluations for patients who want to change to all natural healing modality, i do nutrition counseling, and a bunch more modalities to keep my schedule busy 7 days a week and full all day. The more you learn and the more you add the bigger your clientele base becomes.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
I believe in order to be a successful massage therapist you need to understand the body. That means you need to know the muscle structure, nervous system, lymphatic system, circulatory system, digestive system, endocrine system and more. It is our responsibility to know these systems because if we don't we could harm someone. I'm not implying that someone who isn't licensed isn't going to harm you either. There is just a big difference between a licensed massage therapist, a unlicensed massage therapist, a certified therapist, etc.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Find a good school that goes deeper and goes beyond the scoop of massage. By adding additional services to your menu. Like Manscaping, waxing, blade shaving, body wraps, facials, medical prostate massage, clinics, and more. When massage seasons change and we get Slow periods these other services fill in making u money too.
