Boston's Massage Interview
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
Yes, it is addictive because you work for yourself & nobody else. You set your own schedule & pricing. It is extremely satisfying when you can make a client feel extremely relaxed and revived after each appointment. I love it when I hear from a client that it was the best experience ever! It means to me the world over when I know I still have my magical touch. The longer you stay working in massage therapy the longer you tune your hands, your energy, the more you become a master of your profession. That is 100% satisfying to me and that Is how you build a large sustainable recurring base of clients that will stick with you until you retire. It's also a great opportunity to expand your horizons with added services and honing I'm on a specific groups or types of people. The skies the limit here. + The longer you stay in the higher your income becomes based on your experience. When I started out I charged $60 for hour, now I am $100 hour up to $150 an hour and my clients pay that price because why "My Experience". And that is why I have a large versable group of clients that come for multiple services. A massage + complex trim =equals more money and vice versa. Learn more, do more!
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
Yes, in have a doctorates in alternative systems of medicine, and I been practicing and servicing in the massage industry for over 30 years now. I'm always squeezing in New life (clients) when I have openings. I'm extremely busy 7 days a week + I also have overnight Emergency Appointments too. I expanded my services to include men's facials, microderm abrasion, body wraps, men's man scaping services because no salon does this for men ($$$$) money maker, professional prostate massage for patients who suffer from enlarged prostate, just like some clinics do colonics, I added my own skincare line, I do constitutional evaluations for patients who want to change to all natural healing modality, i do nutrition counseling, and a bunch more modalities to keep my schedule busy 7 days a week and full all day. The more you learn and the more you add the bigger your clientele base becomes.
Why did you become a Masseur?
I became a massage therapist because I love the male body. I love to heal, to help one relax, relieve stress from ones hectic and chaotic life, I want to help men make healthy life style changes. I love the fact when a client comes stressed out and leaves completely relaxed and distressed. It means I did what I love to do and that is to make you the client feel better.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
My 30 years of experience, my training is in Japanese techniques, my techniques are non invasive, yet I can still do deep tissue and you won't bruise or feel sore after or two days later any pain. My pressures are soft to medium and very rhythmic. All my clients come for a session and they experience what I call "Massage in Motion" . You won't experience it with any other massage therapist anywhere. + I have extensive training in other modalities so I was able to expand my business considerably.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
30 years and until I retire in another 15 years...lol
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Find a good school that goes deeper and goes beyond the scoop of massage. By adding additional services to your menu. Like Manscaping, waxing, blade shaving, body wraps, facials, medical prostate massage, clinics, and more. When massage seasons change and we get Slow periods these other services fill in making u money too.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
I believe in order to be a successful massage therapist you need to understand the body. That means you need to know the muscle structure, nervous system, lymphatic system, circulatory system, digestive system, endocrine system and more. It is our responsibility to know these systems because if we don't we could harm someone. I'm not implying that someone who isn't licensed isn't going to harm you either. There is just a big difference between a licensed massage therapist, a unlicensed massage therapist, a certified therapist, etc.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I haven't traveled in years. I'm a homebody...
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
I prefer clients to text because its the fastest way to get a hold of me directly.
I want every client to come to my professional set up, smell the aromatherapy, feel the cool air, sense the dim lights, the warm table, the alternative music I use that combines soft to medium in beat and rhythmic motion and know that when I work on them that I will feel every muscle, every knot, every ache, every pain, I will feel every every stress that they carry and my hands will begin to work and stimulate your bodies flow of chi and the work begins to rid you of toxins, stress, knots, pain and aches. When I am done you will have gone through an adventure with my magical hands in what some have called it "A Massage in Motion", from soft, medium, to firm touch and speeds of fast to slow you never know when it happens until it happens. You will feel a sense of total bliss at a level of relaxation that is out of this world. Setting my massage at 5 stars ✨✨✨✨✨ and you won't experience this anywhere else ever. My techniques are non invasive and you will never feel sore, or bruise when I lay my hands upon your body. So book today and experience over 30 years of dedication to my profession. ✌️ 💕 😊
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I want them to feel completely relaxed, detoxed, relieved from all of there stresses from there chaotic day. I want them to feel at peace within themselves and healed from any ailments of pain or suffering.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I am a pointillistic artist...I am also working on my online store "Pendantsandmore.com" and "Recycle America Jewelry Buy Back Program" which I created which supplies my online store with retail merchandise, which takes up a lot of time along with my Skin Care line "SimplyRawOrganics" . The website is like going back to high school because technology has changed so much and I have to re-learn this stuff all over again on building a store front site. It takes a lot work, and dedication, and a lot hustling to get where you want for your businesses to be successful. I'm also married now to my living husband of 19 years and our child Bozzie our 4 year old pup...
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I'm dedicated, I'm passionate about what I do. I work hard & I keep working hard til I accomplish what I set my goals for. My current project is "Recycle America Jewelry Buy Back Program" that saves unwanted jewelry from the landfill it supplies my online store front "Pendantsandmore.com" with beautiful up cycled jewelry at extremely low affordable prices, + my skin care line that I created was also incorporated into my store front, from men's & women's organic bar soaps, to bath salts, bath bombs, shower Pucks, Dead sea mud, lip balms, rescue sprays, rescue nasal inhalers, to shampoos & conditioners. This also includes candles & wax melts. My lines of candles include: Rescue formulas, for specific aliments, to SenseScents for those who are looking for straight forward single formulas or mixture scents all made from 100% organic soy based wax and organic essential oils. My store is continuously being worked on every single day.
The other thing that clients don't know is that I was diagnosed with Progressive MS & Stage II Gauchers Disease 7 years ago & struggle with it everyday. I get up & push myself to get everything I can done & don't let my diseases take me down.
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
I remember my first day as a massage therapist. I was nervous at first, but after meeting the client, talking to him, & having him fill out forms, plus talking some more it just became a nothing burger..it was like something clicked. It became natural..I knew what I needed to do..my business name became "TheElementMassage" my slogan is "Doing it the Natural Way" One person at a time. Every aspect of massage there is an element. The cause, & effect, & the solution. Or we can look at it from a medical perspective the muscle structure, the lymphatic system, the nervous system, cardiovascular system, we can list them all. What they all have in common is that they are all "Elements" of a complex system that helps our entire body function & when a system is out of balance or the Elements become defective or damaged then our bodies react & become ILL or break down. Massage therapy has always been from the day you were born a form of healing by the touch of your mother. Today it is still true no matter who massages your body the benefits are 10,000 times greater then medications. The human touch has a profound effect on the human body period. Trust me get a massage you won't regret it!
