GuyRubDown's Massage Interview
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
Whatever the motivation is for needing a massage, I desire my clients to not only feel they got what they came for, but would do it again . I want them to be relaxed, high spirited and engaged as a repeat client.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
Refreshed, Satisfiied, Relaxed and Feeling Like They Would Come Back Again.
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
....Going back about 7 years now, I remember him well and he’s still a regular. I actually just saw him last week. Going back to that first session however, I was a bit nervous and not nearly as honed as only experience can make one, I remember I was intimidated as he didn’t emit anything to indicate whether the massage was good, bad or indifferent.... when he said it was one of the best he had ever had, I was relieved and it really made me even more enthusiastic about the massage business endeavor.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
As it relates to my clients, I have no pretension or prejudice about any matters and welcome anyone who seeks a sensual massage from me. I am often flattered when people say that they were nervous arriving but quickly at ease because they found me disarming. I want everyone to feel comfortable in our shared space. It is an essential aspect to the experience I offer and I will always prioritize my clients comfort on every level and work to that end.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Short but sweet: enjoy what you do.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
I have no intention or incentive to stop doing what I do, but yes, I would miss it very much if I did. I wouldn’t say it’s ‘addictive’; more (for me) the word would be “gratifying”. It is the most rewarding vocation I have taken on to date because it pulls from a strong skill set that I derive pleasure from utilizing.
There are many reasons I enjoy what I do, but the top two would be:
- (1) no day is EVER a repeat and,
- (2) I have the opportunity to meet wonderful people and leave them better than I found them while getting paid for it.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
This would depend upon the modality(s) an individual employs in their practice Many of which (if not most) require a mix of technical training and experience. Knowledge and the “how tos” are gained & taught in the beginning, but in the classroom of the day to day, experience will hone an individuals craft and make it unique to them.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
Yes
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
I’m True To my own form - I am myself, with no heirs or attitude about any moment or moment next. I’m not about being “anything”, I’m about enjoying who I am and the company I keep. :)
