What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
This is a very tough question if I want to be humble. I certainly think that everyone has an unique touch, and I say this because when I was in massage school we used to trade bodywork with the classmates and I felt how each one touched differently. Some were more confident and on point, some were afraid of applying pressure and some didn’t measure the pressure they used. And certainly did not fluctuate due to experience because we were all students... but moreover I noticed it was on each individuals awareness of their space, body and some are more tuned to their senses. But what sets me apart from all of them? Honestly? Is the amount of time, intension, love, and dedication I put into my career but most importantly on my self. I will always do my best to meet you from a Nuetral point in order to deliver quality of touch that says: “I care for you, your well-being is VERY important to me” To the point that ive had clients get too relax and suddenly break in tears because they’ve felt amazing in a moment of stress in their lives. Another thing that may be to my advantage is that I am always learning about tools, techniques and the body...knowledge is power. And I’m sexy
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
My first client is a guy who I am still blessed to be friends with (for 6 almost- 7 years) , who later on introduced me to his friends, clients, colleagues and became a big part of my career. Mind you, that it’s was JUST a massage and has always been a very sincere and platonic friendship. To be honest I was really confident with my massage since day one. Hence I grew up with a Massage Therapist and I’ve always liked receiving them :) The rest, after that first massage is a LONG STORY... Now my first erotic massage was something else.. one of my aforementioned clients friend. Hehehe a 51 years old, goddess looking daddy.. hehe 😉 that was fun ;)
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
I am a firm believer that education should always be encouraged, knowledge is power, and on this field if you know what you’re doing, you can help people in profound ways. Also if you don’t know what you’re doing, you can cause harm to the body and or exacerbate an injury or ailment. There are a siries of precautions, indications and contraindications for massage therapy. And moreover to remember that we are manipulating muscles, blood is being circulated, toxins, vitamins are being flushed out of the tissue into the lymphatic system and there are pathologies that we should be mindful of. In other words, If you want a long lasting career in massage therapy. YES! Extensive training is essential. But if you just want to rub oil on peoples bodies and possibly not injury other people, but oneself using poor body mechanics, and compromising wrist and fingers, then.. no, education is not necessary and the career will last as long as the looks, the hands or the nerves lol And every human body is different, so as a massage therapist, we should never stop learning :)
