Kennett's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
As soon as I graduated High school I knew I wanted to go into Massage. So starting in the fall after I graduated I attended Great Bay College and after 2 years got my Certificate And Associates degree in Massage Therapy.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
Yes and No. There were days that massage was very exhausting and unfulfilling for me. Then there were other days when I would hear from my clients they they have range of motion in a certain they did not have before because I was able to either release tension or help with some type of injury. Hearing this from my clients always made massage feel worth it knowing that I could help them in some way.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I've been snowboarding for over ten years and been doing gymnastics for about 5 now.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
Relaxed and able to move again.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I enjoy bodybuilding, snowboarding, gymnastics, and various other sports.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
I do. I really enjoy doing it and I feel I can really help people with my touch.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
Training is very important for Massage Therapy. You could hurt someone easily if you do not know what you're doing.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I want them feeling relaxed and relieved when leaving me. It's one thing if I can them release some muscle tension for the client, but if I can help their mind relax and just let go for an hour that I really feel like I did a good job for them.
Why did you become a Masseur?
I was always told I had a good touch and all my friends enjoyed when I rub their shoulders or their backs. I've also always wanted to help people and I felt I really could this way.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I hardly ever get to travel but I definitely would love to do it more!
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
I have been doing Massage Therapy for over 3 years now and I view it as invaluable skill that I never want to lose.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
You have to be 100% sure you want to do massage if you're looking to pursue it. This job is not easy and is very taxing on your own body physically and mentally. I love this job but at the same time it was really difficult at first adjusting to the kind of endurance you need for it.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
I want my clients to leave the massage feeling better then they did when going in and I'll do anything to make sure that happens.
