RonsBodyWork's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
Wonderful experience. Initially, I went to massage school thinking it would be a hobby. I fell in love with the art, left my career in pharmaceuticals, and never looked back. About my first client, well, it was very exciting, but that's all I will say about that, sessions with my clients are always completely confidential. You will have to ask him...lol
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
I have been very lucky to have a large clientele, both in Florida, and the MD/DC/VA areas. Excellence is what I strive for and it has been the single most important factor in my success. I think a lot of guys think massage is about popping up a table, watching a couple you tube videos, and viola... your a massage therapist. Couldn't be more further from the truth. Training is crucial to success in this business, this business is about the person on the table, not about yourself. My clients have been very loyal to me, I think that says a lot about who I am and why they come back.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
I love massage with a passion. It is something that I have found to have profound positive impacts on my own life. I enjoy sharing that with other men seeking to elevate the quality of their lives on a sprititual, emotional, and physical level. My clients give a lot of great energy back to me and I always appreciate that.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
Kind, very kind. I have no attitude and I live life simply and gracefully.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
Like they got more than they expected. I want them to be completely comfortable, relaxed, and that all their expectations were met. It's very gratifying to see their facial expressions throughout the session. They sometimes come to me so wound up, and leave so peacefully and fulfilled. I have been doing this for a while now, and believe me I have seen some peoples lives greatly improve from regular massage. Quality touch is so important in a persons life. Sometimes you don't realize how important until your on a table with a trained masseur who you feel at ease with and can be yourself.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Home remodel...I have a big home. Gardening, yard work, taking care of pool. In fact, in future, when weather permits, I may do massage by the pool. It is completely private and could be nice way to receive and give a massage. I also enjoy dinners with friends, travel, music, concerts/shows, working out. Naked pool parties are always fun too...lol
Why did you become a Masseur?
It kind of just happened. I got the training as a hobby, loved it, and left my career in pharmaceuticals to pursue something that I love. It pays the bills and I meet a lot of great people. Some who have become very close friends.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Don't wing it. Train for it. Don't advertise as a masseur when you are really an ******. Be clear what you really offer and deliver! I think a lot of people unfortunately have had bad experiences booking a massage with someone whose only intention was to take their money. For clients, I would tell them to avoid those who travel around, as they usually don't have enough repeat customers to stay in one place. Choose a massage guy based on their ability first. If they happen to be good looking as well...then all the better.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
My clients. They come back...lol...Probably the training, much more than is required to be licensed. Take care of myself and body, customer focused and professional, discreet. My home is very welcoming and clean, which is something that is very important to me when I seek a massage
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
10+ years. I don't think I will ever stop unless my body tells me too. I put my clients first, many depend on me and I would never want to disappear on them.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I'm at home a lot. I work from home, a lot. So in a sense I am a homebody. I also enjoy having people over for parties, especially during summer when the pool is open. I'd much prefer that over the bar scene. Not a big drinker and really don't tolerate drug use well. I have been very fortunate traveling around the States and the world. My favorites are Key West, Palm Springs, and the Netherlands.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
One word. Absolutely.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
Completely satisfied on every level. I am new to this site, and always appreciate honest evaluation and reviews of my work. I utilize the information from reviews to elevate the level of service I provide. Although, I am brand new here. I have nearly 100 5 star reviews on a leading male massage site.
