TOUCHMASTER's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
The right question is 'paying client'.... because at college we trained on each other, which still a client. I don't remember how she or he looked like because it has been so long, but I know it was at the luxury spa at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly hills.....
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
I am feeling like a fish outside the water with these questions because the massage business changed drastically on the past 20 years. Additionally, gay massage became a class of itself: Most clients don't care about quality, but *** and most providers offers *** instead quality and experience, etc.... Since my priority is to provide one of the few truly trained and experienced bodywork of the gay world, I am counting on the few 10% who actually appreciated a great bodywork. The reality is, as in most business, nobody gets everything. That's what most gays want: great bodywork and *** by confusing real therapists with ******s. These are two different things. If a client wants ***, he should hire an ******, if he wants a great professional bodywork, don't expect the therapist to be an ****** as well..... massage therapy is hard work...... some sensual elements is ok, since we are gay and understand each other but please check on your priorities before hiring someone.... by their prices and description you can tell what's gonna happen.....
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
YES! Simply because I became one, at one of the best colleges in America with the intention to help others not exploit them. Now I am only part time because I am also a successful fine art artist.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I am a genuine a good person and love healing people with my hands....
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
With the feeling the real therapist exist in the gay world..... not everyone is a cheap or expensive whore who is out there to rip them off.....
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Arts, working out and hiking..... in this order.
Why did you become a Masseur?
I have a degree in Arts and Journalism in Brazil. Since I chose to immigrate to the USA after college, I have to start anew..... Since I love helping others and making them feel good, massage therapy was the right choice for me. But I wanted to do to the best school, so I moved from LA to Miami just to study massage.....which I did....
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
You all will have to excuse my bluntness: I will say no, study something more steady and respected..... real massage business in the gay world will die on the next 10 years..... only quick and fast erotic rubdowns will survive..... Like I said before, 9 out of 10 gay clients couldn't care less for real training and quality.....
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
In the gay world, I am one of the few who is actually is licensed, trained and experienced and worked full-time as a LMT for over 15 years,
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
I was a full-time massage therapist for over 15 years. For the past 3 years I am a full-time fine art artist and still giving massages part time.... I never will stop since I love it....
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I travel a few times per year not only for work but also for pleasure. Most providers don't get much work in their hometown anymore, so in order to raise a decent amount of money is by traveling..... Besides most clients/residents takes us for granted and don't support us locally as it should be. And they are more inclined to hire a visitor more than a local.....
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
Yes. No school gives THE TOUCH to anyone. Even if someone wasn't born with THE TOUCH, a good school and training would make the person a decent therapist. The first thing about massage I've learned was that the most important thing about it is THE INTENTION...... if the intention is good, everything should get better..... if someone is going to learn massage because he thinks the money is good, number 1 it isn't, number 2 that's not a good start. I was luck to be born with THE TOUCH, intuition and willingness to help others. My training just enhanced that.....
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
Happy and satisfied that they got an amazing bodywork for the right price. My sessions are designed to make them feel great for weeks not days.... They will have all their tension released. I just want to be respected and appreciated to be providing excelence in the gay world.
