masseur_sam's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
I do remember my first client very well. Maybe I was lucky to have him as my first. I loved the idea of giving the best feeling to the other person because I have experienced it before when I received a massage. I thought with myself that I want to convey this message to others, to let them feel what I felt. And most importantly see their satisfaction.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
Yes, the interaction with others can be addictive. The touch is addictive. It is something mutual. I want my client to feel what I feel. I will miss to be able to provide quality service to my clients and friends.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
I do. As long as I see the satisfaction in my client, I feel the success. And believe me I have seen it all the times. I know I’ve been successful when I hear happy moans or when the client melts off the table at the end or falls asleep. That’s when I know I’m doing something right.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I am a very nice and caring person. I like to connect with people in different ways. I believe in interaction of energy.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
They would feel a complete different person when they leave than the one who contacted me! I had people wanting to go to sleep afterwards.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to learn. I read many different things from everywhere, be it internet, or books. I listen to good music (I insist, good!). I take photos, lots of photos. And I love to watch a good movie.
Why did you become a Masseur?
The idea of connecting to people in a different level. To interact with the energy of the body. And touch is what we miss these days in our life. That is what made me be interested to offer.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Learn about the science of touch, energy interaction. It is not just about the human anatomy; it's about how you connect to the other person.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
I have perfected techniques that combine different styles of massage to really roll out the muscles in the lower body. I use different parts of my body from fists to forearms and knees to hands. Secondly, I always tune into my clients to be better able to connect with them. I’m always present with each person, noticing cues, feeling their energy, and connecting with them.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
I have been doing this since I was in India. It's been more than 7 years now. And I am planning to continue as long as I connect with good people.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I love to travel. For the last few years I didn't get much of chance to do so. But whenever I could I use every single opportunity to visit somewhere new! I have visited many countries in Asia and middle east. And I loved it. I wish to travel soon to a new place. I would always travel if I could.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
Not in order to be successful, but training is necessary. You may not become successful even with extensive training. But you will be successful when you know you are connected to the body and soul. That's the key to success.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
They would feel Satisfied, Energized and Fresh; and they will always remember it as a unique experience. They would think about it over and over again because they loved it. They would feel a complete different person when they leave me!
