ALovingTouch's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
When my first career slowed while living in San Francisco, I decided to go to a massage school, because I already enjoyed giving massages.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
Yes I would, because I enjoy the intimacy of being with men and helping healing people.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
Yes, I successfully lived on my massage income for 4 years in San Francisco and 9 years on Maui. But I can be much more successful with professional marketing.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I was an engineer for many years in the professional photographic industry and was an expert solving mechanical, electrical, and software problems. These days I apply my problem solving skills to helping people relieve pain painlessly. Basically, I "engineered" the perfect deeply relaxing massage.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
I want them to feel very relaxed with much less pain. Many people also feel "lighter" without all the stress.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I spend too much time reading information on the internet, especially Facebook. I exercise frequently by swimming, diving, hiking, and dancing. Occasionally I go to movies, plays, and community events.
Why did you become a Masseur?
I am a masseur, because I am naturally a body healer and help people feel relaxed. I began giving massages when I came out and massaged the men that I slept with. 14 years later I became certified.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Massage schools produce lots of massage therapists, but it takes a lot of marketing and experience to get enough therapeutic massage clients to live solely on massage income.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
Because I began my massage career while living in San Francisco, I decided to give men sensual and erotic services they wanted, even though the massage schools said not to. I still give people what they want in order to earn enough income to live.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
I have been giving massages for 28 years, the last 14 of those professional. I will keep giving massages as long as my clients want to keep seeing me, even though younger masseurs are available.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I prefer giving massages in my studio. I enjoy giving out calls, but it can be hard work carrying a massage table. I typically travel to California in early spring, and to Oregon and Washington in the summer.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
That depends upon what services the masseur provides and how attractive they are. More training helps if they do only therapeutic massage.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I want the clients to feel much better than before the massage. I want them to feel happy and that my services were a good value. And I want that completely relaxed feeling to last as long as possible.
