DaveMasseurNYC's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
I was very excited to have my first client. I remember I was so ready for it. After I completed my training, I bought my first massage table and several types of Biotone massage creams and lotions, also scented candles and special lighting to make the clients experience as relaxing and unique as possible. When I finished my massage I nervously asked the person if he liked the massage and when he told me that he is going to write me a great review because it was a great experience, I knew I was on the right path. Of course since then I have improved my massage techniques and developed all the aspects of my massage with experience and also try to work on peoples individual issues when they ask me. I feel like now I feel each person individually and adjust to their body issues to make it an even better experience.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
I would, I have been massaging for many years and I have a type of personality that I would never do anything that doesn't make me happy or I don't like. Massaging is something I really enjoy and looking forward for many more years of working in this area.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
I do! I have always noticed my personality differs from others even in high school. If my teacher would give me a bad grade, I would lose the interest and stop liking the subject and my teacher who noticed that would always tell me she gave me a better grade to make sure I work harder. With massages I feel like every time the client complements my work it makes me want to work harder and be better not to disappoint and that keeps me going. I am especially thankful to my regular clients who give me so much respect and value my work.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
hmmm...maybe to tell them that I have really big strong hands and that my massage technique is more about grabbing and moving and working with muscles and not only...
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
I make sure my clients are never shy or nervouse and make sure they know I am a nice guy and there is no reason to be nervous and be sure they will enjoy my massage.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I love working out daily and love playing tennis and also traveling.
Why did you become a Masseur?
I was encouraged by my friend who is a great masseur and believed I'd do great after training and I gave it a try and I am happy I did.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Make sure to remember you work with people and different personalities and it is very important not to have attitude and treat every client with respect.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
My experience and my ability to become better with time and my guarantee that you will love the experience.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
5 years and hopefully for many more years.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I do travel often, monthly I'd say since I have regular clients in many many cities not only on east coast but all around the country.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
Definitely! But the important factor is the ability to improve and become better with time by learning peoples desires and issues.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I want them to wow during and after the experience which happens pretty often;)
