VitalTouchMiami's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
I became a masseur on a whim upon a suggestion from a roommate I was living with. My ex boyfriend was a massage therapist so I decided to study massage therapy and use it to supplement my income depending on how well it went and if I could flourish even as a part-time gig. I did some local advertising and my first client and his first session was a complete disaster. I was massaging with Johnson & Johnson lavender baby oil on a bed. Although I was living in a beautiful home my roommate was indulging and illicit things in the very next room. I remember the CD of massage music skipping as it was covered in dog hair and lubricant. My dog was passing gas as he apparently got into the trash earlier that day. Upon being completely embarrassed of having to break the momentum of the massage, I subsequently changed the CD and accidentally put on AC/DC's Back in Black album with the title track "Hells Bells"! It was such a disaster, however, the client was a very good sport & we laughed about it for years to come. He actually continued to be a regular client. It was so overtly unprofessional however it taught me exactly what not to do and I therefore began to take it more seriously.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
I think what distinguishes myself from other masseurs is that I take a genuine interest in the clients expectations and I go above and beyond to ensure that their needs are met. I guarantee my work and I never accept payment until the completion of this session. It's not just imperative that the massage itself is to their satisfaction but I pride myself on offering a money back guarantee of the entire experience from the moment they get out of the car till the moment they leave. I am obsessive about tweaking everything from cleanliness, atmosphere, aromatherapy to a thorough massage and all necessities and amenities one could ask and even hope to expect (with a few unexpected surprises). I have an intuitive interest into what relaxes the client allowing us both to completely tune out the outside world and transcend to out of body experiences during the session. Which makes for not only an amazing massage, but a sort of out of body transcendence that often leads to them falling into a deep sleep and sometimes even drooling. My job is to bring the heart rate, blood pressure , mind & body to the ultimate euphoric state of consciousness.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I am adamantly intent on being professional, hospitable, welcoming and accommodating. I have an unparalleled inviting and comforting energy. My clients are often nervous in the beginning and within minutes comfortable and relaxed. I am adamant at making people who are self-conscious about their bodies or have certain disabilities or health issues completely at ease. I have clients of all ages, handicapped, hearing impaired, epileptics, elderly, Prosthetics, Surgical deformities, scoliosis, sciatica, obesity, etc ranging in all ages genders and ***ual identities
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
I have been a masseur since December of 2007 when I Incorporated my business Vital Touch Miami and would like to continue to flourish as long as I am physically able and passionate about helping people and excelling and a job that I absolutely love. There's not many people who can honestly say that the only time they are completely at peace and completely relaxed is while they are working. And that is a blessing that I never take for granted and continually humbled by.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I like my clients to feel completely satisfied and relaxed and somewhat surprised at how personable and hospitable and comfortable they are while under my care and in my home. I have the type of personality that connects with people and a unparalleled gracious, welcoming and sensual energy that is cohesive for the work that I do. Professional, reliable, personable, responsive, honest, unpretentious, competent, and sincerely yours😉
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
Even when the time came I would miss being a masseur because I would miss the interaction with people. And I would miss the ability to heal people and to make them feel good and alleviate their pain.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
I consider myself a successful masseur because I am able to make it my primary and only source of income and because I have been in business since 2007 and many so-called "masseurs" cannot say the same
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
Elated, relieved, and stress-free
Why did you become a Masseur?
I became a masseur on a whim from a former roommate. And after 2 weeks I did not have any idea what would become of it but I knew something big was going to happened by the responses and the caliber of people that I was serving
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I am more of a homebody however I do travel to do clients but usually locally within the Miami and Fort Lauderdale area. I do not travel out of state
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Take it seriously and practice practice. And be more concerned with your massage techniques and not your hair or physical appearance unless there's a beauty pageant after each one of your clients 🙄
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to spend quiet time with my dog and I like to do home repairs
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
I'm not sure if extensive training is necessary however it is necessary to constantly switch up your techniques and your routine just as you would and exercise routine. Keeping it fresh is the name of the game and learning new techniques is essential
