YoungGuyOldSoul's Massage Interview
Why did you become a Masseur?
My friend who I lived with at the time started doing massage first and I saw what a great experience he was having with his clients and thought I would enjoy doing it as well!
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
My beautiful hair! haha but also my attention to detail and ability to connect deeply with people right off the bat.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
I want them to feel relaxed and satisfied of course!
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
I think we are all capable of giving massage but some are more intuitive than others. I think you have to be passionate about it and also present. It helps to have a basic understanding of the human body and how the muscles lay.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Yoga, Climbing, Dancing, Biking, Camping, I'm also an artist and designer.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
Yes! I feel very fortunate to have had many wonderful clients. A regular of mine even gave me a vintage racing bike as a gift once and it's been my favorite mode of transportation around the city for years!
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
That I take pride in providing an excellent massage. I also live alone and have a beautiful home that I've put all my creative energy into making. I'm a detail-oriented person and know how to be present and in tune with your needs.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
About ten years which I can't believe, the time has gone by so fast! Who knows? For as long as I enjoy it and have people coming to me.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I do both pretty regularly but I will say that I prefer my place over a hotel because I've curated such a cool space and have control over the lighting, sound, temperature, and humidity. It just makes for a better more transcendent experience.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I want you to feel pleasantly surprised with the experience so that you want to come back again!
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
I do! I was quite green and gave it my best effort but I'm sure they could tell that I was a beginner. I've learned so much and come such a long way since then.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
When I'm an old man I think I'll look back on these days and remember how lucky I was to be my own boss and to have such an interesting and ***y job. Especially in NYC where I get to meet people from all over the world and in every profession imaginable.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
The better you care for yourself the better you can care and provide for others. Honesty and clear communication is always the best policy. Have fun and be thankful!
