dubletrublebros's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
Yes, we do remember him, his name is Mark, and we met him in Seattle, where we first started working as masseurs. He was very kind and had a laid back demeanor, very similar to the two of us. We were obviously very nervous, but when he mentioned that he was as well, it helped us all relate to each other and have a great appointment. Our first days as masseurs we took everything VERY seriously, and got stressed out about any little "mistake" we felt we made. Over time, we learned not to take ourselves too seriously, and measure our success on the level of satisfaction our clients communicate with us. Basically, learning not to sweat the small stuff, and always putting our clients first.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
We could see why people would say that! It is truly a blessing to have the flexible hours, and to never have the same day twice. We love meeting other guys from all over the country, and traveling around the southwest and west coast (east coast this holiday season) to work and play! We will definitely miss the masseur days. We are both aspiring artists and writers, and are planning to write a book together this winter. If we were not masseurs, it would be VERY difficult to pursue these dreams.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
We do feel successful based on our relationships with our San Diego regulars. Though, we will say that even after 4 years, we are always learning how to be more successful. No two clients are the same, and every time we start to think we have all the answers, a new situation teaches us otherwise lol. In all, respecting and putting every client first is what we find in the key to being successful.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
We are just normal American guys, and we have a number of dreams. We are best friends, and we have a very unique connection. Most people lol, find that our banter is quite comical, and we often feel that we share the same brain. We are artists through and through and we try to find the beauty in everything, despite how challenging this can be in today's world.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
That they got the experience we advertise, and they left even more satisfied than they expected. Besides that, we always aim to make our clients feel comfortable, and more like friends than anything else. With our group of regulars, we are always excited to see them, and catch up with them. This is what we aim for with each and every client, the more regular clients we have the better for us. Having a built up relationship with our clients just makes the experience better and more personal.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
We feel you should have experience with some kind of customer service if you would like to be a masseur. You will have to treat your masseur business like any other business, and your clients like any other customer base. Always be positive, don't be rude or unkind especially in non-verbal communication! It's impossible to reads someones tone in an email or text message. Just be professional and treat others like you would like to be treated.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
We LOVE to travel. We frequently love to go to Palm Springs and Los Angeles. We also go to Las Vegas, Phoenix, Orange County, and San Fransisco. We are hoping to take a long road trip through Texas and Florida this winter! But we also love to be at home, its a good balance.
