AtlasBodywork's Personal Masseur InterviewLast Updated: Aug 12, 08:57
- It's been about 5 years. I just take it day by day, I don't have any preconceptions for how it needs to progress.
- I like to travel but I am often working.
- Relaxed and on their way back to their lives with no mental worries.
- There is training to be successful in anything. How much you would need depends on your goals and what skill level you want to be at.
- I try not to compare myself to others and just focus on my goals and being the best version of myself everyday. Other people provide different services based on their backgrounds and goals and I don't think there is anything wrong with that.
I would say my experience is about using empathy to form a vibe with my clients so it truly feels like you are just hanging with an old friend.
- Make sure you care about others. It's hard to give a great massage regardless of your experience if you naturally don't have a strong empathy for others.
- I would run into a lot of people who spent so much time as the "boss/leader" they never seemed to just be "a regular guy." I found that I got along well with mature guys and they would always say I should be a therapist or something. Massage was just a way to be able to continue providing the vibe I pretty much already was.
- I have a wide range of interests: sports, business/entrepreneurship, xenophile/traveling, music, learning new skills, hanging with friends/family. But you can probably start talking about anything and I probably have a fair amount of interest as I love hearing peoples' stories.
- I'd hope that they feel a lot less stress, and realize that they have a safe, discreet, private place they can come and hang when they need to take some time away from all the chaos of life.
- I'm not a judgmental person (especially when it comes to bodies) and I get along easily with people who are direct. Peoples' lives, mistakes, etc. are theirs to deal with. I'm just trying to be a friendly vibe along the way.
- I would let my clients decide. As long as they are happy I'm happy.
- I wouldn't say being a masseur is addictive, but seeing peoples' genuine reactions when you are able to help them when they need it is pretty cool. I think I would miss my recurring clients and wonder if they have found another positive way to de-stress and recharge.
- My first client was an older gentleman who was having trouble with his lower back. Although I didn't have much experience at the time, we got along well and had interesting conversations and laughs. Afterwards he said he felt much more relaxed after an intense week at work and became my first recurring client.
This experience taught me that providing a place to de-stress is more than just a physical massage; its also the friendly atmosphere and camaraderie that allows for someone to truly let go and recharge.
