Aussiemonk's Personal Masseur Interview
Last Updated: Aug 31, 2021

1
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?

- Relaxed and Reenergised

2
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?

- You really never stop learning. You'll always learn new skills from different therapists and other types of therapies that may be of interest to you.

3
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?

- If I could travel all the time I would. I only started travelling with my massage table in Aus over the last year and loved it. But when I'm in my own city I'll be a homebody.

4
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?

- I've been a masseur around 6yrs but have been off for the last 6months due to obviously Covid and personal matters but I'm excited to get into and see what Canada has to offer.

5
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?

- I believe I have a special skill when it comes to connecting with people. I also talk about energy as its something that comes up through many of my clients. I also come from a personal training background.

6
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?

- Expect the unexpected. You are going to get all walks of life and all situations thrown your way. How you deal with those is very important. Personally, I'll never want to make someone feel uncomfortable or uneasy after they leave. Handle the situation in a fun and non aggressive way but make sure you're clear on your boundaries.

7
Why did you become a Masseur?

- So truth be told I actually didn't want to be a masseur but as I was finishing my personal training course. I was required to continue my studies in Australia and as the college I was part of also offered massage I decided to do that course. I was hooked in the first month.

8
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?

- I'm very into my health and fitness. Sociallizing on occasion but more so a homebody. Out door hiking and being in nature.

9
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?

- I think one of the best things about being a Therapsit is the instant gratification you get after a session is done. Not only do they verbalise the relaxation but you can see it all over their faces. My company back in Australia was called NewEnergi and that's exactly what people will expect.

10
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?

- I'm very sensitive to peoples energy, that being said I can also adapt to peoples energy. I strive for customer service but also want the client to feel at complete ease when they come to me. I'm a healer

11
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?

- I absolutely do. Ive been practicing for 6years and have run a successful business back in Australia. I had a great cliental base that were all return clients.

12
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?

- The great thing about massage is you can take it anywhere in the world and do it any time you want. It's been a crazy 6yrs of working and you meet the most fascinating people with amazing stories but you also get to really have an impact on peoples lives. I've had people share things with me that they've never told anyone else and I've also helped some people through some dark times. Its a very rewarding job so those parts I would miss.

13
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!

- I do remember my first client and how nervous I was. I bought a table about 2 weeks into my course and went for it. I barely knew how to do the Swedish massage and it was very obvious. First thing he said to me after the massage was "its your first time isn't it?" LOL
