CalebCamSIXFOUR's Personal Masseur InterviewLast Updated: Mar 12, 2022
- I hope that clients feel relieved, relaxed, satisfied, and above all… like they’ve made a new friend in me as their masseur. I like to create friendships with a professional tone that will continue long-term.
- I don’t think a good masseur needs to do excessive training as long as you have studied enough to know the anatomy of the muscular and ligament system. I believe it is a good idea to study with other masseurs in order to stay current and improve. But I think successful masseurs are the ones who really listen to the client and provide the relief that the client is searching for. With good communication a good masseur can be GREAT!!
- I prefer to stay at home and provide massage for clients on a regular basis. But I do travel every couple of months just to see different areas of the country now and then. So stay tuned because I might be in your area!!
- I’ve been massaging for about 7 years now and I plan to continue as a masseur indefinitely! I enjoy it so much that I have my own studio dedicated to massage in my home with hot stones, linens, candles, buddhas, incense. It is a very private and inviting space where I plan to continue to invite clients for the rest of my career. I am also a personal trainer so I plan to make this my career path for the foreseeable future.
- I think I combine a strength and intuition for massage. I am a tall guy and pretty muscular, so my touch is very strong and thorough. But as I’ve said I feel a great connection with the body and I have a deep understanding of where you might need more attention. Also, I have a great rapport with people that allows me to make you feel comfortable with me and very at ease on my table.
- To anyone who wants to be a masseur I would say, first of all, study massage! Make sure you know what you’re doing before you begin charging people to work on them.
After that, prioritize your clients and respect them. Communicate everything upfront and clearly so that you can show them respect and allow them to respect you as well. Make a great connection with a client and enjoy yourself with each client.
- When I was living in Argentina, I had an injury in my lower back. I was referred to a clinic that helped me heal completely! I was so impressed with the work that the father/son team did that I began studying with them. They taught me so much and I worked with them for several years before moving back to the US and started on my own.
- I write songs and have done that for a long time. I just like to be creative. I also enjoy staying active in the gym and I do personal training for some clients. And finally, I’ve been a sand volleyball player … looking to find places to play!
- I have seen it so many times… the look of physical relief, emotional release and ease! When somebody looks at me when they are leaving my massage studio and says: I can’t believe how much better my shoulders feel! Or I feel so relaxed now! Or I have never felt good after a massage before! Those are the things I love to hear. That’s how I like my clients to feel after a massage with me.
- I am very committed to quality and offering a great therapeutic massage, also connecting with each client at the point where they are in their physical journey. We all need a little help along the way and I enjoy finding where someone is and helping them move to the next level in whatever facet that may entail. I am intuitive and I enjoy making that connection.
- I have been very successful as a masseur. From the time I began to study in Argentina with my instructors, I could feel an innate connection with the body, muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, and pressure points. It seemed like I could immediately connect with people in my table and feel exactly where they were hurting. Many times I’ve been told I have found points of relief that clients didn’t even know they had! I would consider myself a very lucky and intuitive masseur.
- Absolutely! I would miss the connection I have with my clients everyday. I really enjoy discovering people’s needs both physically and emotionally… helping to alleviate physical aches and pains as well as having a great connection (whether it be through silence and physical touch or through great conversation).
- Jack was a very sweet older gentleman, my first client. I was actually fairly nervous to begin. But my southern roots and background in the church kicked in… Jack and I became very comfortable right away. He continued to get massage from me every two weeks until I moved to LA in January 2022.
