GingerCMT's Personal Masseur Interview
Last Updated: Jul 09, 2018

1
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?

- Okay, let me dive right in and (shamelessly) promote my spa services! What is it, you ask? An amazing private bathing session, with custom body scrub. I perform this service at my home or the client’s. It’s a 3-step process:

First, using practiced therapeutic motions, I sponge you down from head-to-toe with premium soaps, followed by my homemade scrub that exfoliates your skin to polished perfection. Last comes essential oils therapy, inducing a sense of tranquility. The bathing session lasts a half-hour and occurs prior to massage, as heat from steam and water preps muscle groups to receive deep stimulation.

My scrub features a proprietary blend of 100% certified organic ingredients:

1. Virgin coconut oil (gold standard for skin, antibacterial properties)

2. Sugar (excellent exfoliator)

3. Manuka honey (native to Australia/New Zealand, hydrating, possesses *potent* healing factor)

4. Sea salt (exfoliator, proven healing factor)

5. Cinnamon (nourishing antioxidants)

This has turned out to be my most popular add-on. Schedule now and take your skin to the next level. Radiant and youthful, with higher capacity to absorb moisture. Go ahead, spoil yourself. You’re worth it!

2
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!

- This wasn’t officially my first client, but a fellow student (Marcus) at the Holistic Massage Institute. I was practicing a new technique, myofascial release, which involves stretching the fascia, the goal being full-body balance. Btw, fascia exists between the flesh and underlying muscle/bone structure, and sometimes becomes restricted due to trauma or stress.

During that session, I’d already sensed myself entering the Zone, that inexplicable state of surrendering completely to touch, motion, stimulation—that sacred communion between masseur and client. My palms grew warmer, which isn’t unusual during massage, yet a certain energy I’d never experienced before subtly rippled between us. Something was happening, something healing and profound. Later, Marcus shared he’d felt something too, and the pain/inflammation he’d endured from a recent gym injury had diminished.

I don’t think I’m necessarily unique in this way. Every human has electrical currents pulsing within. The most gifted massage therapists are somehow able to fine-tune and direct that electromagnetism in a restorative way. Magic and science combined...perhaps.

3
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?

- Would I miss the Art of Touch, the honor of providing a wholly nurturing experience to my brothers and sisters, to be an everyday witness to others receiving both serenity AND rejuvenation through powerful and proven techniques? Absolutely I would miss it!

The last ten years has been my own personal odyssey, an unbelievable adventure. This career has given me oportunities I’d never dreamt of. Flying to far-flung corners of this gorgeous and wild world. Obtaining both ancient and state-of-the-art skills by continuing my education via advanced workshops. Learning about tantra in Munich and ayurvedic In Mumbai. Meeting and connecting with literally every kind of soul. I’m based in Los Angeles, and my repeat clients include everyone from blue to white collar. From the well-heeled to students to—

You name it, they have been under my touch. It has been a rare pleasure. Thank you, Universe. I remain grateful. Always.

Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?

- I’m naturally and voraciously curious, a vital trait for any massage therapist. My clients tell me I’m the real deal. I’m blessed with an unusually high client retention rate, rare in this industry. What else? I’m licensed, experienced, and honestly enthusiastic for each sunrise. Who will I meet, or help? How will we impact each other in unexpected ways?

On a spiritual note, I maintain a daily meditation discipline, raising my vibration, preparing me to give you my all. Healing crystals and stones grace my studio, clearing any negative energy. When the client arrives, I start with aromatherapy and soothing music, guiding them through conscious breathwork, immersing them into a blissful, almost hypnotic state.

Combining light and deep pressure mixed with long sensual strokes, I employ a drumbeat finger technique created by me—similar to the Emotional Freedom Technique, or Tapping, rooted in metaphysics. It manipulates body/mind/spirit frequencies, syncing our auras.

I treasure every human being regardless of age, body type, gender identity. If you’re reading this, there’s a reason. Coincidences don’t exist. I’d love to get my hands on you. Yes, you!

What are you waiting for?

5
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?

- I haunt museums and especially when traveling, savor every chance to explore each country’s glorious street art. My cloud-stream is packed with graffiti I’ve snapped from London to Tokyo to my home-base in LA. As the King once said, “If graffiti changed anything, it would be illegal.”

My tastes range from the erotic masterworks by art deco provocateur, Tamara de Lempicka to the stinging social commentary of world-renowned guerrilla artist, Banksy. And pretty much everything in between. I’ve never met a painting or sculpture or drawing that didn’t speak to me. Sitting in contemplative silence before the permanent Rothko collection at MOCA is also a fav pastime. Not to mention a stone’s throw away from my studio.

Art is a reliable historical transcript, preserving the overriding mood/themes of countless eras. It has the power to provoke, and even change minds. Triggering paradigm-shifts. Massage—a healing art—is no different. It slows life to a tranquil velocity and heightens focus, the ability to process thoughts in a mindful way. When clients leave a session with me and go back into the world, my greatest hope is they’ll not only be refreshed and rejuvenated, but also...Inspired!
