GoodIndeed's Personal Masseur InterviewLast Updated: Mar 11, 2023
- I've been practicing since 2007 and I don't see myself ever stopping might limit myself to a few clients but never really putting it on the back burner.
- Because I'm good at it. I often say that my journey began via accident I wasn't supposed to enroll a massage school I went for pharmacy technician. After completing all the courses and then doing the hands-on practical side of it once I mastered the strokes the flow the technique it all just comes naturally out of me I didn't choose massage massage manifested itself.
- I go wild for a nice cup of coffee. I'm definitely more of a Dunkin fan but Starbucks is okay
- Pool, swimming, bowling, WWE wrestling, games of all variety.
- Success is different for everybody. I am a good massage therapist and am I successful..
Yes
- Well my first client was one of my classmates I went to school with three other females and we learned in the practice area and then we had to literally practice on each other so my first experience was with a woman who was a few years older than me and yeah let's just say The outcome of that massager something I should probably tell you in person.
- That they made a wise investment. Let's be honest nobody would like to pay for services and be the recipient of a poor experience. When my clients leave I want them to say wow that sense of relief the fact that I touch them in places that they didn't even know exist that's the experience that I want you to feel as it is my pleasure to do this for you.
- If you're going to go to school pay attention to the strokes in the modalities that they're teaching. Become confident in your foundation that way you don't have to compare yourself against other therapists. Not everybody it's going to come to you nor will you want a massage every client that does come to you but every experience only molds your craft.
- Yes, but I don't actually see me completely stepping away from massage. Massage is definitely addictive by nature, when done right and when you're good at it it's almost soothing and calming at least I'm from my perspective.
- I am beginning to travel more. Mostly my visits have been domestic but I do plan on visiting Spain France and Chile eventually or at least within the next 5 years. However I definitely am a homebody I'm very comfortable at home.
- I love to hear from my clients when they're telling me about other masseurs. I like to hear about the sessions compare and contrast. How was my session compared to this other masseur What did they do that you like, What did I do that you like? My goal is body work and I want to aide your body in reaching relaxation By focusing on trigger points knots and releasing fascia. With me you get a massage with intent and purpose being trained in the swedish massage means I have the foundation of general relaxation. This also means that my pressure varies therefore deep tissue is not always the response however it is necessary of certain circumstances.
- My goal for my clients is to feel as though the massage experience was worth the investment. Oftentimes we pay money and not get what we paid for but the reality is for massage just that the goal is to relax. So when my clients are leaving I want them to anticipate how calm and relaxed they're going to be at home.
- Yes and no. The most important thing to learn is why you are doing what you're doing. Every massage stroke should have a purpose and intent behind it. One can watch videos and learn but I think it takes giving and receiving, as a student of massage to understand how you are impacting your clients.
