HeartCtrdBWork's Personal Masseur Interview
Last Updated: Sep 27, 2019

1
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?

- I’m a strong believer in our ability to change our lives for the better regardless of our circumstances. I love helping others become believers of that too. I love to study human behavior, thinking and communication to better understand how I can help people achieve their goals.

2
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!

- I remember the feeling was overwhelming at first, almost electric! I understood that anything I was feeling would be transmitted to the client on the table so I had to get those jitters under control quickly. It was definitely a happy day when I was able to realize this goal and dream to enter the profession. I’m so grateful every day for being able to work in something I love.

3
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?

- I would like them to feel pleasantly surprised, invigorated and at the same time relaxed. I want them to feel like they got their money’s worth and more. Above all set would like for them to feel nurtured and cared for.

4
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?

- I’ve been practicing professionally for a handful of years. They always told us at school it was easy to burn out. I know therapists who continue to work after 20 or 30 years. I hope and plan to be at it for the long run, though I’m sure my career will continue to morph in one way or another to foster it’s longevity.

5
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?

- I would say, really ask yourself why you want to do it. It can be extremely rewarding work but it’s also hard work physically and emotionally depending on the type of practice you want. Don’t forget regular self-care is extremely important!!! It’s sad when I find out a therapist who is extremely busy never has time to care for him or herself. We must live in a way that shows we appreciate the value of the work in our own lives. Go for it! If it’s your calling, nothing will stop you.

6
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?

- I see many of them are surprised when we are done. I would like that they are of course relaxed as one would expect, but also that they feel they’ve been seen, heard, honored. Often they comment that they’ve had an amazing session that was different, in a good way, just what they needed.

7
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?

- It depends on what you want to do and why you want to do it. Some things they don’t teach you in school. Different states have different requirements. There are so many layers to healing! Some people chose to specialize. I’ve had sessions by self taught therapists that were as awesome as other sessions by classically trained therapists.

8
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?

- I like to read, watch videos, learn. Usually those things involve something health, massage or personal growth related. Or simply just relax, I need to recharge to be fully present for my clients!!

9
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?

- I haven’t traveled very often for work but I’m changing that right now!! I think there’s definitely a level of comfort in being in your own space. I have to say that traveling offers a chance to connect with great people, which I love.

10
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?

- I would agree with that. In fact, I had a handle once as Massage_junkie :-)
I don’t see myself ever not doing massage. Many therapists I know ALWAYS did massage, they just didn’t do it for pay.

11
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?

- I honestly believe that we are all unique and attract specific clientele. I think that we go through phases in our journey to heal and we need different tools to do that at different times. I know I personally got different needs met by different therapists. Everyone’s work has a place in someone’s healing journey. We are what the client needs at a specific point in time. If I had to pick something what sets me apart it would be that my work is very deep on many levels, not just pressure deep.

12
Why did you become a Masseur?

- It was a combination of things. Family health problems, self understanding journey, the need to connect with others on a deeper level and finally, a need for sharing what I had learned.

13
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?

- Yes. I think the key is how success is defined, it may mean different things to different people. I’ve touched many lives and have facilitated profound healing in many clients. It is very rewarding and it definitely makes me feel like I’ve succeeded.
