JRodPVD's Personal Masseur InterviewLast Updated: Oct 03, 20:48
- Relaxed, rejuvenated and ready to book the next appointment
- Travel for fun has been increasingly appealing to me. There is so much of the world to see, but generally speaking I am a homebody
- On and off for 20 years. I’m not sure I’ll go back to a traditional job, so hopefully until I can’t physically do it anymore
- I do, I keep pretty busy with my practice and am always learning new techniques to tackle certain clients needs that might be unresolved with traditional styles
- Do it! It’s such a great option. If you don’t like a lot of noise, enjoy making people feel better and want to be in control of your schedule, travel etc, it’s a great career option. It is hard work, but very rewarding as well.
- Absolutely. You work with people from all walks of life! Some people enjoy quiet and others enjoy talking during the massage. I tend to be a bit more reserved until I can read what the client prefers.
- I do. I was super confident and then I got really nervous just beforehand. He was super understanding and it actually went really well, once you get into that rhythm, it’s smooth sailing
- Like they are ready for a nap
- I really enjoy making someone feel better. We all get stressed and having the ability to alleviate that, even if just for a short time, is really satisfying.
- I really love being outside in nature. Hiking, kayaking and swimming are three of my favorite activities. I also love animals, nerdy history and space/astronomy!
- Absolutely. You need to be aware of the basic human anatomy, but also where common issues can become big problems if not dealt with correctly. Pressure and body manipulation matter. The therapist needs to be aware of accessing the correct points to break up fibers and knots and do so in a manner that doesn’t hurt the client.
- I think we all have our own technique and style and I do think we tend naturally give a massage the way we like to be massaged. When you’re in tune with someone’s breathing and level of comfort, the massage sort of just flows naturally. It’s awesome!
- I really do get the most satisfaction hearing how great the massage was or how a client slept so well that night. It makes my day when someone is pleasantly surprised and if they fall asleep during the massage, that’s a huge compliment!
