JaceHawkins's Personal Masseur Interview
Last Updated: Nov 20, 2022

1
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?

- From time to time my partner and I do travel and take clients in the area. Due to how busy we are in our home location, we don’t make this a regular occurrence (more of a “kill two birds with one stone sort of thing”) If we are in your area, please reach out and let’s make something happen!

2
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?

- I came from a very conservative upbringing that kept me in the closet for longer than I would hope for anyone in the LGBTQ+ community. I was pushed through conversion therapy and filled with shame about who I was. Thankfully, I broke free from that and truly learned how to love myself exactly the way I am. One beautiful part of meeting so many clients, I speak with so many that are still in the closet and find fulfilling conversations sparked that help them on their own journey. I hope every client of mine knows I’m here to be an ear and to be a safe space while helping you take off a load and relax.

3
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?

- I have several years of experience in massage, with certification. As for how long I anticipate doing this line of work? As Mary Poppins once said: “I shall stay until the wind changes” lol

4
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?

- A masseur should always be training, learning, and seeking to be a better every day. Significant training is not only needed in order to provide quality, safe, and genuine massages, but extensive experience is how a massage is elevated and perfected. There is an art in the way one touches the human body that isnt just found in just any masseur. Your experience should be built throughout the massage with intuition into your individual body and needs. I never seek to just bust one out; a full experience is carefully pieced together until you reach the final climax of relaxation.

5
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?

- Success in my mind is all relative, and frankly it has more to do with your personal perspective on attaining the goal you’ve set out for yourself. When it comes to being a Masseur, the reason I would consider myself as being successful is in large part due to the pride and professionalism I find in my work.

Far too many Masseurs treat their interactions with clients as just a side gig or a dollar sign, but for me, each client is an opportunity to make a positive and uplifting interaction that genuinely fulfills what the client needs in that moment. If I don’t come out of an appointment feeling like I not only helped a client relax but also brighten their day, then that is when I have lost my success as a masseur.

6
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?

- I hope each client takes a load off and relaxes at a level that is satisfying and rejuvenating. I am grateful for how many leave my studio feeling restored and relieved; I wish this for everyone that walks through my doors.

7
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?

- I hope that every client leaves my hands feeling relaxed, restored, relieved, and released from any pressure they were carrying. I want them to feel safe and at home, along with feeling uplifted and empowered.

8
Why did you become a Masseur?

- To keep it simple, I became a masseur because I love meeting people and truly believe in human connection through touch. There is something satisfying about helping others relax and getting them to let go of worries. Stress is the biggest health enemy we face day-to-do and making steps to help people cope and take a load off their...back ;)

9
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?

- I enjoy a wide range of hobbies and rarely find myself holding still in any given day. I enjoy hiking, fishing, biking,...essentially anything that gets me out into the sun. Related, my guilty pleasure is sunbathing: I don't want ANY tan lines ;)

I have a deep passion for weightlifting and fitness; I am always trying to perfect my workout split and always push myself. Similar, I enjoy occasional rock climbing and I have a history with MMA fighting.

On the softer side, I love music, playing the piano, singing and gardening. I love my house plants and spend as much time as I can chilling and cuddling with my dog.

10
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?

- What I seek to provide to each client is a personalized experience that doesn't just get the job done. I want to be sure my clients release EVERY drop of tension and leave my studio feeling alive. Although attentive to time, I seek never to rush the experience.

Unique to my massages, I also incorporate soft/light techniques that satisfy a deeper even emotional level, often creating hair raising chills up the spine that quickly are relaxed and relieved. Clients often tell me how surprised how satisfying their experience is with this combination of firm and gentle touch.

11
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!

- Jumping into something new is usually filled with nerves, and that was definitely my first experience. Thankfully those nerves were swept away shortly into the massage and it was a defining moment for me. I remember this client was just as green as I was, this being his first time with this type of massage. I remember looking at him laying on my table, stiff as a pole, and sweating bullets. This quickly took my mind off my nerves and focus on him.

It was in the beginnings of our conversation that I found out he was a closeted religious man married to a woman. This made him being touched by another man foreign and feeling unnecessary internalized shame. As we talked, he soon relaxed.

It was uplifting to talk and help him understand where all that shame was coming from. I shared my own thoughts on how he didn't need to feel ANY shame for needing to explore this kind of healing touch. That reassurance struck him and he looked up at me and said, "wow, I needed to hear that." I never profess to be a counselor by any means, but this moment showed me the deeper value in this kind of touch.

He was quickly able to release all his tension. Relieved and alive he left new.
