“Re-opening” For Massage Clients May 15
I’ll be taking massage client appointments now to begin May 15. Please continue to read for guidelines. I’ll be working from my home only, no outcalls. As I work in my home, the following guidelines will need to be followed:
1. A mask must be worn at all times, including on the table. I will be wearing a mask at all times as well.
2. Massages will be limited to 60 minutes.
3. Hands must be washed upon entering.
4. Payment will be cashless—Venmo, CashApp, Apple Pay, Zelle, or bank transfer will be accepted.
These guidelines will be in place for the foreseeable future, and are the same in place for salons, massage, and spas across Denver.

Bodywork / COVID-19
Hi all! A lot of people are feeling especially frayed right now given COVID-19. Body workers, massage therapists, etc. are being hit especially hard as more people are staying at home. However, a massage is truly a fantastic way to ease the nervous system, bring a feeling state of calm/ease, and energize the body.
I’m doing my part by heeding advice to wash hands regularly, avoid large crowds (which isn’t much of a choice given how things have been canceled), clean the home, use fresh linens/towels, etc., with each massage client, and maintain a healthy, calm nervous/immune system. I’m fortunate to not have a compromised immune system.
My schedule is fairly open the next couple of weeks with cancellations of school, work and events. As funds get tight for all of us hourly wage workers, won’t you help by scheduling a massage/bodywork? It would be greatly appreciated!
I’m offering a sliding scale rate (pay-what-you-can within the rate range)—
1hr — $100-150
1.5hr - $150-200
2hr — $200-250

There’s a whole lot of shit going on in the world right now, which can more often than not, feel like the sky is falling. Even though we live in a rather quiet and beautiful place, surrounding by mountains and gorgeous views, we can still be affected by what we read and see on the news, by difficulties at work and in other areas of our lives.
Massage can help to soothe our sympathetic nervous system in response to these things. Fight and flight. I come with an arsenal of tools including Swedish and deep tissue massage, but also energy work/healing, sensual practices, and stretching with a keen knowledge of anatomy and physiology from Pilates training and graduate work in the clinical mental health field.

Will the rain ever end?
Of course. I spent several months in Portland, OR a couple of years ago and thought the sun was gone forever. Never to come back. And with the summer, all you want to do is see sun and spend time outside.
But weekend forecast says—sunny times are here again. Why not take some time to rejuvenate and get ready for weekend activities, or unwind after the weekend, with a refreshing, invigorating, relaxing massage?

The Pressure Factor!
Clients come to me for different therapeutic reasons, whether post-surgery, for relaxation, during an increased physical fitness regime, or to work on specific areas that are problematic. Personally, I find that in my 30s, my legs, hips, and feet aren't as quick to bounce back after strenuous running like they used to. That, coupled with the added stress and tension I put on myself from thinking about that, makes for a sore lower body.
That being said, not all "great", or even "good", massage means deep, intense (and at times, painful) massage. Our somatosensory system, which is a fancy term that includes our sense of touch, is a vast network of neurons where signals are received through stimuli such as touch. Swedish massage, particularly effleurage and other slow stroking movements are thought to have a sedating effect leading to activation of the parasympathetic nervous system.
If we speculate that stress, (arguably one of the most wide-spread illnesses in Western society) is often associated with feelings of rejection or because of a sense of lack of support at work or home, then it is understandable that massage may be comforting at any pressure level.
