JaysonRelaxation's Personal Masseur InterviewLast Updated: Apr 07, 16:47
- I became a masseur after a 17+ year career in social services. I had worked with persons with disabilities; developmental, mental and physical. The later part of my career was grant funded and unfortunately the grant(s) came to an end. I could hope to like where the organization I was working for placed me, or I could do something that I truly enjoyed. I chose to honor the memory of my mother who always told me, “you should be a masseur”. So, in the final year of the grant, which I knew was coming to a close, I attended massage school, graduated at the top of my class and got my license. I figured that with my new found vocation and the ending of a successful first career, the Universe was telling me it was time for a change and the Universe brought everything together for me here in Savannah.
- Relaxed, rejuvenated and rested. I want you to have the best experience you have ever had.
- This was not my very first client as a masseur, but when I was doing my clinical rotation in school I had a lady who received massage in our clinic on a regular basis. No on had mentioned anything about this client. When she was comfortably situated on the table, I entered the treatment room. I inquired as to her comfort and in a breathless voice she said, “thank you”. I proceeded to work each area as we were taught. When I would finish an area she would moan and in her breathless voice she would say, “Thank you. Thank you. That felt soooooo gooood. Thank you “. Unfortunately, when you are in a learning or corporate environment, you have to work on whomever they book you with.
I have been blessed to own an exclusively male private practice since the day I graduated from school. A practice where MEN can be free to explore/express themself without restriction. I have had numerous guests, both local and visiting Savannah, who continue to return to my table for their services at regular intervals. I am honored by a loyal local clientele. I am grateful that repeat Savannah visitors include time with me in their travel plans.

- Continuing education is an important part of any vocation. To be successful depends on your own definition of success. Some employers are in favor of their people growing through education and support that effort, others choose no to. As a private masseur, I value the opportunity to learn and I use learning as an excuse to take a break from my practice to rejuvenate, relax and restore my personal energy so that I am a better masseur for my clients.
- Currently, I am not traveling as much as I would like. I am comfortable being on the road with my table, and I am comfortable in my own surroundings. Travel provides adventure and learning.
- I started providing massage in 2009, when I retired from a successful career in social services. Being a masseur is a career that is portable. I plan to continue in my private practice for the rest of my life. I have a table. I love to travel. Just add me as your masseur.
- I definitely would miss my days as a masseur. There have been many scientific studies that prove the importance of human touch. Touch is powerful! Powerful not only for the one receiving therapy but also for the therapist. Becoming a masseur is the best career choice I could have made. No regrets here.
- Without a doubt. I have built a private practice since 2009 where many of my original clients continue to see me. My clientele is not only local to Savannah, but includes loyal patrons from neighboring states and travelers to the area who seek my services when they are in town.
- Remember that as a masseur, you have the best of all worlds. You can choose to work for someone, or you can choose to work for yourself.
Either way, massage is a business and your priority is to show up and be present for the person who has chosen you as his masseur.
