JoelMassageSD's Personal Masseur InterviewLast Updated: May 26, 2023
- Yes I do! I had just finished my last massage training session with my mentor/instructor, and he had someone already lined up to be my first official client. I was a little nervous of course, but I just tried to focus on the techniques and skills I had recently learned. And it turned out great! As they say, practice makes perfect. So from then on I’ve continued to get better and it has really boosted my confidence too!
- Definitely give it your best shot and learn the trade! One caution I would say is don’t be mediocre if you’re expecting to do well. Just like with any other business, the work you put in will directly affect your desired outcome. Take it seriously and stay optimistic; and of course have fun and most of all enjoy it!
- Like they just made a new friend who has the perfect touch for massage! I’ve heard from a number of my clients that they feel very relaxed and comfortable from the moment they walk through the door. I’m also looking to connect with my clients beyond just the physical; there’s a certain level of intimacy that I endeavor to find if they are open to that connection.
- My genuine spirit and positive energy mixed with my massage experience and skills. All too often I’ve heard horror stories of other masseurs that lack any personal connection to their clients and do not give quality service. I want to make sure each client has the very best possible experience I can give them. And that starts long before the hour on my table.
- I am genuine, caring, kind and very skilled at what I do. Professionalism is extremely important to me and I have been so fortunate to have some phenomenal reviews from my amazing clients!
- In short, to capitalize on a skill set that I have learned and developed. However after many years in this business, I find it equally rewarding to have met so many wonderful people that I’ve gotten to know as my personal clients.
To wrap up this entire interview, let me leave you with this famous quote from Confucius: “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”
- I would say yes if someone wants to have a broad range of clients. However, it’s very possible to be successful in this business with normal training and a more specified style of massage that appeals to most clients.
- I’ve been giving massages for well over 10 years! As of now I see myself doing this kind of work for another 10 years if all goes according to my plans.
- I travel around once every month or so. My plan is to increase that number so if you live outside my local area, there’s a better chance I’ll be visiting your city in the near future!
- My hope is that a brand new client will want to come back and become a regular one. However I do understand that not everyone connects well with everyone else. In that case, I wouldn’t want it to be from anything I did or said that would prevent them from returning. But would hope it’s simply just a matter of preference and nothing personal.
- I love to spend my free time outdoors mainly. Whether it’s hiking out on the trails or sun bathing at the beach, I just love the fresh air and warm sunshine!
Being with friends is very important to me too. Traveling is also a great experience regardless if it’s a local trip to Palm Springs, or going halfway across the world! Get out there and see it!
- Yes very much so! As all of us have probably heard, “The best business is repeat business!”
I strive to live by this motto with my massage work and treat every client in a special way to ensure they come back if they so choose.
- Like any job/career we choose to do or pursue, of course it would be missed when it’s gone if you enjoyed it and got fulfillment from the work. I don’t think it’s addictive for me, however there is a certain momentum I like to keep going when work is steady.
