LongBeachBody's Personal Masseur InterviewLast Updated: Jun 20, 23:36
- The best compliment that I can receive is when someone says, "I'm going to go home and take a nap now."
- Initial training is important, but extensive training isn't necessary. Intuitive skills and practice makes a better masseur. Learning new techniques is also beneficial.
- I prefer to do incalls, but will travel under the right condition.
However... I love to travel in my free time for fun!
- Although I have been doing massage much longer, I have been providing massage professionally for over 10 years. I hope to continue until I can no longer physically do it... which is hopefully well into the future!
- I try to communicate with what the client to find out what their needs are. Some want you to focus mostly on one area or to avoid other areas. I check in with their comfort level, whether it be the pressure or the temperature of the room. I also have larger than average hands... which apparently feel great!
- Before you become a masseur, have a passion for it. Do massage exchanges with others, beyond initial training, and critique each other on what feels good. Have confidence, and be warm and inviting to your clients. Listen to your client's needs and always give your best.
- I became a masseur after doing massage exchanges with friends. I love how good massage makes you feel and how it makes you forget your stresses for the time being. I realized that I had a talent and I wanted to share that with others.
- I enjoy exploring the local area, as well as traveling around the country and around the world. I go hiking often, workout at the gym, do yoga, and frequent restaurants around Long Beach and Los Angeles. I love music and attend shows frequently. My musical tastes are varied and I'm always open to new artists.
- My goal is someone to leave feeling lighter than they arrived. Massage can not only ease some of your physical pain, but lighten your emotional spirits as well.
- I am very personable and laid-back. I enjoy an irreverent sense of humor, and enjoy a close circle of friends. I am a good listener, and have no judgement. We all have some baggage and we are all a little crazy-face-emoji. Considerate people are the best people.
- Absolutely. Success is measured by the fulfillment you receive from doing something that means something important to you. Massage doesn't feel like "work" or "a job" to me. I do it because I love it and choose to do it because fulfills me.
- I have left massage behind, in the past, in order to focus on corporate jobs, only to find that I really missed the connection that I can only get from massage. Helping others feel physically "better" makes me feel emotionally and holistically better myself.
- My first client was a gentleman who wanted someone to come to his home, use his table, his massage lotion, and listen to his own music. He provided everything and just needed a good masseur. His comfort level was key to his experience. He ended up booking me on a bi-weekly basis until he, sadly, moved away. I learned that the client's comfort level is the most important thing that allows someone to relax and enjoy a great massage.
