Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
No but keeping one’s awareness of new techniques are as important. To me, extensive training simply means the person likes to talk a lot about themselves and how much they know. I take a backseat to ego, I prefer to perform.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
Most things are addictive to me since 8 have that personality I guess. I’d miss it because it’s always on my mind. Do I need to bye lotion, oil, etc is constantly on my mind. Laundry detergent goes in and out of my house more than my mother used for five of us kids and both herself and my dad. I was a lot because as soon as a client leaves, I strip and toss it in the wash to keep organized. Seems hectic at times but after 38 years in the Catering industry, you learn to move fast, clean as you go without anyone noticing (if anyone was).
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I want (or wish really) my clients to feel like they can talk to me because they felt comfortable, welcomed and I honor discretion. My client now tell me more than I ever expected. But, I’m engaging I’m told. As a Directorof Catering for Universities, Museums and Private Country Clubs, I was always was talking, planning and developed a vision for each person . That’s personal, I listen. I learned to listen very carefully.
