MasseurSteve's Personal Masseur Interview
Last Updated: Apr 05, 2017

1
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?

- I'm so boring! I enjoy video games, comics, reading, and writing poetry (bad poetry). I recently started baking and I'm not half bad at coming up with my own creations.

2
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?

- Go into it with an open mind. Some guys are crazy picky about who they work on and all that does is deprive them of cool and interesting experiences....and money. haha

Always try to get better. Whether it be the massage itself or the environment you work in. Clients WILL gossip..and you want them to say good things about you. haha

3
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?

- About ten years. I'll keep on trucking until my wrists give out.

4
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?

- I'm a little mixed. I moved here from Pittsburgh PA so clearly I like to travel..But I also like doing nothing and just being a couch potato. Depends on the day I guess.

5
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?

- I'm a total goof and nerd. I read comics and I'm a bit of an artist. I just don't have that cool vibe everyone on here seems to have. haha

6
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?

- I'm trying to think of a creative answer but I'll just be blunt....satisfied.

7
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!

- Very nervous and kind of embarrassed haha. He was a little rude actually! Not that I blame him..I was kind of unprofessional back then. I didn't have money to invest into my little business so I used what I could. The first year was rough but things started picking up after that.

8
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?

- I think that depends on the kind of work you want to do. My sessions are a little more on the fun side. I'm trained but I always default to the stuff that feels good haha. I have friends who do this and they never went to school for it. They do just fine. However, If you want to work on people who have very real problems, I think training is important. You don't want to make them worse.

9
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?

- I'll be honest, the massage part of the job can be tough some days. I went to school for therapeutic massage so what I offer isn't a simple rub and tug haha. So when a client needs real work done I try not to overlook it..It can be a process, but its always nice to take someone out of pain or discomfort. Don't get me wrong, I like to have fun as well... But the real reason I do what I do is the interesting people I get to meet and the experiences I have with them. I'd miss that for sure.

10
Why did you become a Masseur?

- It's one of the few things that doesn't make me feel inadequate in life. haha I know what I'm doing...mostly.

11
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?

- Nothing and everything haha. I'd like to believe that I bring something different to the table but who knows..I try to be genuine with people. I think that's a bit of a rarity these days, especially in this line of work. I really love what I do and I try to let that come through. Let's be honest here, I don't have a six pack or bulging pecs. I'm literally the guy next door. But I'm doing something right. I've been doing this for 10 years and I've never needed a second job. I'm very grateful for that.

12
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?

- Like they made a friend.

13
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?

- I often tell my clients that I'm spoiled because I haven't had a "real job" in almost ten years. I make an ok living and I'm proud of that considering I work for myself. I think I'm a solid masseur, but there's always room for improvement.
