MauricioCastillo's Massage Interview
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
It is addictive in the sense that you discover how to connect with people through touch. Most of the time we are very disconnected from each other pursuing our own goals and happiness in some illusory and distant future, but in reality, we already have everything we need to experience true joy. By touching each other bodies we get closer to that connection by letting go of everything else and focusing on the now.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
I want them to feel that everything is perfect as it is. I want them to feel complete and appreciated.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Oh boy, there are a lot of things that I truly enjoy. As an advertiser that specializes in digital media and projects, I love technology, graphic design, and market research (This sounds boring to most people, I can't help to love it! lol) so in my free time I love learning programming languages, digital design skills, photography, and of course, I have a soft spot for computers as well. I go to the gym (Not that often though!) I like to walk and sunbathing. My connection with the sun is very important. Every time I'm in the sun I literally feel my soul rejoice with that experience. I feel it is so powerful that sometimes my whole state of mind can be affected by it. Anything I am doing under a bright sunny sky is a joy!
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I rarely travel and I only do it in special circumstances (Preferably with clients that I already met) You see, stepping into a person's house is entering their own world. It requires from me an inner strength to acknowledge and find peace to work in a space that is foreign to me. This is something that I should definitely work on, but for the time being, I'm more focused on my place.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
It depends on the perspective of the question. From a physical perspective, yes. It requires knowledge and training to identify and work properly on the right muscles. From a deeper perspective, however, that is to say from the level where awareness and true self reside, it is the ability and easiness from where the Masseur can connect with the client and his inner body that unlocks meaningful healing. Most often than not, the body's aches and contractions are a direct result of deeper feelings and lack of empathy experienced by millions each day.
