MrMarcusFLNC's Massage Interview
Why did you become a Masseur?
One day about 10 years ago, I woke up and my mind was telling me that I "needed to start doing massage"...becoming a massage therapist was a natural calling for me rather than a choice;)...I created an ad and receive a lot of responses. Once clients started paying me triple what I was charging I knew I was on the right path๐
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
My extensive international training, experience, technique, and personality distinguishes me from other masseurs, also my experience and education as a Businessman, and entrepreneur. I provide an elite massage experience for my clients with full focus on them. My sessions are tailored to each person.
I've heard many stories of some masseurs who use machines or massage guns for the entire session, or they aren't trained in techniques or don't conduct the session in a professional manner.
My professionalism and techniques distinguish me from those masseurs. I have also coached and trained some of them, and I learn from them as well.
My unique menu of well-executed signature services also distinguishes me from others๐.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I'm not only a masseur, but also an artist, author, photographer, and designer. I would want my clients to know that I love doing massage therapy and I incorporate my creativity into each of my sessions which are very organic and different. Clients can feel my passion and purpose through my touch. Many of my new clients let me know they can tell I enjoy what I do.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I enjoy working out, cooking, shopping, creating art, writing, and doing various things with my books including doing private readings...with some wine of course. I often entertain my clients in more ways than one.
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
I absolutely remember my first client, we have become great friends over 10 years and I still see him. The first day I decided to follow through with my calling to massage I made an advertisement and literally received approximately 100 email responses. I knew then that I was going to take massage therapy seriously as a career which I've now been doing for 10+ years.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
My clients leave my sessions relaxed, refreshed, impressed and introduced to a new elevated elite Massage experience. I also like when my clients are so relaxed that they don't want to leave, and don't want me to leave๐
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I travel very often and love meeting with my regular clients and new clients in different areas. I love traveling but I also enjoying being at home, relaxing in my mancave, decentering, regrouping, and seeing my clients there.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
I'll never miss my days as a massage therapist because I will always do massage โจ๐โจ
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
My advice to someone wanting to enter the massage field would be to go to school to learn all aspects of the industry, and not to do massage if they aren't passionate about it. I've often come across many clients who tell me not so great experiences that they've had with receiving massages. I truly enjoy making up for their bad experiences, and showing them what a great massage experience is.
My other genuine advice would be to....read my next upcoming book where I give plenty of advice and explain my journey and experience as a Masseuse;)
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
I do consider myself a successful masseur considering that I've been primarily working for myself for approximately 10 years, featured on television, and worked with celebrities. I've also been able to teach others my approach to massage in various aspects and introduce many clients to a new massage experience. One of my highlights was receiving $1,000 dollars for one of my signature massages. That is success.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
I want my clients to feel relaxed, refreshed, and rejuvenated when they are finished with my session. I had a client tell me they were relaxed as soon as they walked into my massage space just from the atmosphere. Part of my job was already done. ๐
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
Training, and learning new things is necessary to be successful in any field not just massage. Extensive training helps to deal with all types of clients including those with special needs, and complicated ailments.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
I've actually been doing massage for 13 years, I started very early. I'll continue doing massage forever, and my books on massage will be around also. ๐
