NicoMassage's Personal Masseur InterviewLast Updated: May 20, 2020
- I lived in Santiago, Chile from 1990-2000, where I studied from 6th grade until University. I have a bi-cultural upbringing and I feel grateful to have experienced 2 different kinds of lifestyles growing up.
- I would like them to feel that they were heard, that they were able to express what they wanted from the massage, and that they are satisfied with the work that I do.
- I like to create art, study Tantra, listen to various kinds of music and sounds.
- As a child, I would give my family and friends back rubs, foot rubs and hand rubs. It gives me pleasure to be of service to another person, using my body to accomplish relaxation, body awareness and feel-good sensations. I decided to purse this passion when I was 30 and I haven't turned back.
- Get in touch with your favorite Masseur and let them know you are interested in learning a few techniques to practice on friends.
- I tailor my massages depending on the needs and wants of my clients. They receive a customized bodywork session where I bring in all the techniques I have learned to accomplish a common goal for the appointment.
- I would like for clients to feel destressed, to have a relaxed mind, to feel safe in my massage studio, to have their needs met with my techniques and to connect with another human being :)
- I think training is helpful for the Masseur so that he can enhance their skillset, keep an open mind to learn new techniques during their path in bodywork, and it can be useful for clients to make a choice between Masseurs.
- I wish to travel more often this decade. I would like to visit more places in California.
- I have been a professional certified Masseur since 2009. I will continue to do this until the requests stop coming :)
- Yes, I consider myself a successful Masseur. In Chicago, I had a private massage studio for 6 years and business was good. I intend to do the same now in Sacramento and bring awareness about the benefits of massage.
- Yes, I would definitely miss being able to give (and receive) massages on a regular basis. During this period of physical distancing, I have found that virtual self-massage classes have been helpful in maintaining a regular routine of self-care.
- The first professional massage I gave was to a performer who was going to do a show the next day. I was excited since I am a fan. I was also honored that they chose me to relax before their performance on stage. It was a thrill to discover tattoos that are hidden under clothes. It felt like I was in on a secret. I'll never forget the butterfly feelings I had in my tummy when the session was over.
