OakenJourneys's Personal Masseur InterviewLast Updated: Feb 03, 11:27
- I'm largely self-taught and taught by CMTs in informal settings. I think it takes a lot of passion, commitment, humility, and attention to detail to be an excellent masseur without formal training. Too many guys think they can phone in a massage career and take your money. That's not my personality in anything I do — I never stop learning. I take a lot of pride in ensuring my adeptness and your satisfaction.
- I started doing massage therapy in 2017. It's cool to look back on that time and see how many great experiences and happy clients I've gained since then. I'd like to keep going as long as my hands allow.
- I'm disarming as hell — if you're nervous coming in, it won't take long for the chill vibes to rub off on you. I'm as comfortable with your body as I am with mine. I love to chat, smile and laugh, and give or receive adoration. I'm good, curious listener. And I never give you the same session twice.
- Get in touch with your own body, become fluent in its many languages. This'll be super informative as you learn how to provide massage therapy and release to others. It has a lot of other benefits too.
- I have a natural inclination and intuition for body work and I soak up information like a sponge. I haven't had a crazy amount of resources while learning the craft and building my business, so given that I think I'm very successful.
- I try to get sun during the good months. I love beaches and parks, sitting at outdoor cafes and restaurants, urban walks. I'm chipping away at several writing projects. I play with LEGOs, and I'm a cypher at karaoke. Day-to-day I keep up with the news and the NBA.
- I've always loved giving massages, and I'm really into delivering pleasure. Years ago I learned about my talent through partners who felt like they had to reciprocate and did a half-assed or just-plain-bad job. Then I decided to cultivate it.
Due to some old sports injuries I live with assorted chronic pain. I've always desired easy access to the kind of healing, relaxing touch that I now provide. So you could say I became a masseur as a way of paying it forward as well.
- I love to travel around the US and out of the country. I jet out of the city at least once a quarter, and I'm not averse to an improptu train or bus trip. But when I'm home my apartment is my favorite place; I'm more likely to spend a night in than a night out.
- I want you to feel time slow down because you're so deeply rooted in the present moment, noticing how much easier it is to breathe, experiencing every capillary deliver oxygen to your newly relaxed muscles and stimulated tissues.
- I want you to feel like I provided a secure space where you could let go and be yourself, knowing that I was deeply comfortable and capable taking care of your body, and that I was as excited as you throughout our session.
- To parahrase Beyoncé, my goal in life is to be present. I know I can't be present every moment, but I can always bring myself back. For me, presence is the key to contentedness.
I try to help people in my professional life. On a personal level, I love to go out and dance, and I'm a big exhibitionist. I've been on a lot of stages, and dabbled in the valley, so I know a lot about fulfilling fantasies.
- I love making people feel good, hearing about their specific concerns and helping to alleviate them. Massage is one of the most intimate and special ways of helping people. So I'd definitley miss it if I moved on.
