ParkerPitts's Personal Masseur InterviewLast Updated: Dec 08, 2021
- I do. I had been giving family and friends massages my whole life, and also begging for them, so I knew how important and healing this work is. My first client made me feel even more confident because they left a big tip and good review, and I could tell they were happy!
- I have developed many amazing routines, but I add personal touches to each session. I’m also not one of those barely-rub-you-and-clearly-hate-it, get-you-in-get-you-out types!
- You must like people and be comfortable working on a wide range of body types and ages. You must be compassionate and a good listener. You must take good care of yourself and exercise regularly to avoid burnout. Learn proper body mechanics and study anatomy. And MOST IMPORTANTLY, you will be most successful if you tailor the massage to what your CLIENT wants, not the massage YOU think they need or want to give!
- I’m a very genuine guy with a pure heart, and I care about every person and the quality of their massage who gets on my table! I also make a great conversationalist due to my high energy, outspoken, candid nature, and excellent listening skills. But I can always Zen out and silently work my magic if you prefer!
- Yes, I do. My phone is constantly ringing! And I have many regular clients. In my five years of working as a Masseur, I have never received a negative review (digital or IRL). In fact, I often hear “that was the best massage I’ve ever had.”
- Exercise (especially biking, swimming, and weight lifting), literature, TV and films, socializing, travel, learning about anything and everything, and sleeping.
- Definitely! There is a rush of oxytocin, especially from sensual and erotic massages, that both the Masseur and client feel released. It’s a great natural high! And there is nothing as satisfying as seeing someone smile and thank you for taking away some of their physical and emotional pain. I think I will always see a few people on the side, even if I end up with another career in the future.
- I like them to feel that they spent their time and money wisely, and picked the right guy for the job. I want them to come back and know they are in good, skillful hands.
- Not necessarily if the Masseur has an innate gift and a lot of knowledge about anatomy, kinesiology, physiology, and pathology. But there is so much to know about massage and the human body systems, training makes success easier and a more skilled and knowledgeable therapist. Without training, a client can be injured by a masseur.
- I don’t travel much since the pandemic. I don’t mind traveling within 10 miles of my home studio, but I don’t travel farther than 30 miles. 95% of my appointments occur inside my home and I like it that way! I have a nice atmosphere and setup I’m very comfortable working in, guaranteeing my clients the best possible experience.
- I have been a Masseur for five years (since 2017). I received four months of formal training in early 2021, and will continue and complete massage school in 2022. I would like to continue healing others through massage for as long as possible. Hopefully another 20-25 years or more!
- I became a Masseur because my purpose is to be a healer of others, I love people, and I am damn good at massage.
- I would want a massage client to feel blissful after a massage with me. For them to feel respected, seen, heard, to be in less pain, and also leave feeling happy and refreshed from the pleasure and good conversation and company.
