RebelPro's Massage Interview
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
Professionally, I'm an effective communicator and massage therapist. Personally, I'm nature and animal lover, dogs in particular.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
They feel that it was very thorough, with attention to detail and effective pressure/techniques.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
Training is helpful that is practical and scientific, efficient and effective. The results speak for themselves. I'll also note that real world experience will also teach you what you need to know and unlearn from some aspects of formal schooling (the entry-level massage schools, that is, not hand's-on CEU's (which get straight to the point).
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
Apart from providing local outcalls (my range is within 25 miles or less). I have never traveled out of state for work.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
I've been learning and doing professional massage since 2009. As I get older, I will want to teach/instruct.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
I'm respectful, fair, responsible, accountable, objective, practical, accommodating and thorough with generally all aspects of the service. I'm also open to direct constructive feedback from clients regarding any maneuvers I can change to improve the results for each individual client. According to the vast majority of clients I've seen, I'm the only or one-of-few therapists around they claim can provide a truly good deep tissue massage with good hands/touch. In addition to that, I'm described as a positive down-to-earth guy.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Practicality and smart bio-mechanical techniques are key to consistent positive massage results. Being LGBT friendly/non-discriminatory and direct/solicited advertising will greatly increase your business prosperity.
Why did you become a Masseur?
My mom encouraged me that I'm great and would succeed at it. By chance, I worked with LMT's as front desk customer service at a massage chain, and that encouraged me to check out massage school, which I liked and did and have stuck with it ever cents.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Free time, what's that?? Lol... I like to care for my dog, workout, do self-care, get massages, study, Jet-Ski, hike and do cool activities like archery, ax/knife throwing, TV/movies on my big screen - and other typical dude bro stuff.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
Free of most or all of tension they had when they walked in (as much as possible, at least), as well as respected. And I hope they enjoy the interaction/company as well, that's gravy.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
Yes. It took a lot of hard work, sacrifice and investment to get to where I'm at. I also always look to improve anything that has room for improvement.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
It's very fulfilling work...
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
Yes, he was a friendly gay 6th grade teacher I first had in my massage internship. I remember him pointing and saying to the scheduling staff - "I want him" with a big smile on his face :) After that, he was a regular during and after my internship.
I decided beforehand I wanted to pursue massage therapy finally after my tour of the massage school.
