SatyrVine's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
I started working on family and friends as a kid. I first gave a massage to gay man in my late teens after having had *** with a couple guys and noticing they left after they came. i found that if i massaged them after *** i could keep them there for hours. . . so i started doing that on all my hook-ups. my first paying client i was invited along for a 4-hand massage from some guy i met on IRC when i was 20. . . i was told he might pay me more if i finished him off. . . so i massaged and explored him trying to understand that. it was me holding his hand while working on his forearm that made him hard. . . which communicated to me that what men need most is Intimacy. . . which made me happy and proud to provide that. he saw me 2 or 3 times a week for six months, then i went to massage school to learn how to do what i already had a strong intuitive base for!
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
Absolutely. i am not a fan of small talk. i love that i can be instantly intimate with people. that i have access to their whole body. . . and often hear “i’ve never told anyone this before…” and “i feel like i’ve known you a long time already. . . “
being able to pleasure people as well as help in their healing is my passion.
i’ve lost interest in hooking-up from my years of massage work.
i’m very good at what i do and being able to see that every time i give a session and hear how happy i make people makes me feel i will always give massage.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
Yes. i first made money from massage at age 20. it’s been my main source of income for 24 years. i’ve had several regular clients for over a decade. Massage has allowed me to live at my own schedule, permitting me freedom to travel the world and work when i need to, allowing me to engage in other passions without needing to monetize them. i know i have helped many people in many ways, which has given me many types of satisfaction.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
my focus is Love and Healing. i give what i need from the world. i want everyone i work on to feel a connection to me and the universe through me. i’m a very physical and sensual person. i’m also a very spiritual person. i do my best to be authentic and in integrity with each person i’m with.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
Accepted and appreciated. Discharged and cleansed. Free and at peace.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
i’ve spent most of my life traveling the world. i love talking and listening to people. i write a lot of my life stories. make storytelling videos. take a lot of pictures. spend a lot of time naked in nature. enjoy open world video games. i love meditation: mindfulness, yoga, qigong. i work with plants, make salves and tinctures. i like reading books and listening to audiobooks. rarely watch TV. like movies and theater sometimes. like all sorts of music.
Why did you become a Masseur?
i had several jobs with time clocks and paychecks. . . i didn’t like that. when i found i could work for myself, when i wanted, working directly with clients, making them feel good and helping with their healing. . . it’s been difficult wanting any other job!
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
i’ve worked with many novice masseurs. among the advice i give is: take care of your body. meditation and yoga are key, to have a healthy emotional and psychic body so when working on people you don’t pick up too much of their stresses nor give them your own. to learn how to relax: a relaxed and happy body is felt by the client and does half your work for you. learn how to use your whole body in a session: body mechanics and minimize use of your thumbs. and be confident and comfortable with what gives you joy: you can’t please everyone. don’t worry: someone else will. be authentic in what excites you and share that with people. also, give yourself time to relax into each client. . . no matter who they are, you can see beauty in them. . . and that helps them feel more comfortable with you and with themselves.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
i started when i was a kid working on family. i come with a deep sense of empathy and care. i got training from new age hippies in northern california. . . so i enfold many different styles and philosophies into my sessions that could never be taught in one school. my session is a deep physical therapeutic blend of techniques. . . as well as lots of care and love and simple sensual pleasure. . . when i first started being physical with people i thought i was bad at it, so i focused on learning how to be really good at it! it makes me a very conscientious lover… as well as talk therapy from the experience of a life of traveling the world since i was a teenager, constantly meeting strangers and being in different cultures. . . and my passion for healing and freedom and integration. . . i bring all of that to the conversation of massage. the pleasure and healing and wonder of what we can do and feel and be with these bodies.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
34 years! 20 professionally. . .
i started at age 10 working on family, then friends, then hookups, then i got training and did a few years of lots of trades before it became my main source of income. it’s how i’ve made most of my money since 2003. i hope to always give massage, as i love doing it and it gives me a satisfaction i get nowhere else. . . but as i age, i do a lot less of it. . . i’d like to make money other ways to give my body a break!
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
i left home at age 17 to live in the UK on foreign exchange for school. . . that year was the year the internet became public and i started traveling to meet people i met on line as well. i spent 12 years not having a fixed abode, always on the move. . . then held an apartment in NYC for a decade. . . before returning to being a nomad again. even when i held an apartment i traveled several times a year (except one year, when i challenged myself not to travel!)
i’m a gemini sun in the 9th house with my mercury trine my ascendant in virgo. . .
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
i would say Yes. but not just training: intuition and experience are essential as well.
i was good before i got training, but i never would have been successful without learning how to use my whole body, understanding anatomy, learning techniques that i can apply in all the different situations i find in all the different bodies i’m with. training opens up our intuition to more possibilities than we can readily imagine. . . and gives our imagination more tools to work with as we grow into our own style.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
i like them to feel like we knew each other. a familiarity. i like them to feel like i appreciated them as they are. i heard them. i saw them. i like them to feel loved, accepted and cared for. i like them to feel happy and at peace and more free and comfortable in their bodies.
