SayAhhhh's Personal Masseur Interview
Last Updated: Apr 07, 2019

1
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?

- My clients leave feeling relaxed, nurtured, and whole. They leave knowing that they have been listened to, that they received a great massage, and an experience that they look forward to enjoying again soon.

2
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?

- If I had to give it up doing massage, I would definitely miss it! I've been in the business for a little over 20 years, so it has become an important part of my everyday life. Thankfully, I have been fortunate enough to stay with this profession as long as I have and to have met and helped many wonderful people.

3
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?

- Do it for the right reasons. Since this a customer service oriented profession, & it is one that is working w/people in an intimate fashion, remember that you are working for each client that walks through your door. They are, in a way your boss. They are coming to see you for what should be a great experience, whether it be someone just needing to be touched & have contact with another human being, or various degrees of tension that needs to be released. If your # 1 focus is how good you look in a mirror and who can give u the most attention and money, I would say you are going into this for the wrong reasons! Don't get me wrong there is nothing bad about looking hot and muscular, but work on your knowledge of massage & having compassion for your fellow human being/client. One thing that I have noticed recently is the rates that masseurs are charging have gone way up. Keep in mind who your clients are; can they afford $160/hr on a regular basis, if so, great!, but most can't afford that once a mo. Would that be a price u would want to pay for ur massage? In the long run you will be more respected & have more clients when charging a more reasonable rate! Thx 4 reading & good luck!

4
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?

- I have over 20 years of knowledge and experience in massage therapy.
I listen to and do my best to tailor the massage specifically to my clients.
I have also been told many times that I have a very calming nature. I am thankful for that and glad that I can provide that sense of comfort to my clients!

5
Why did you become a Masseur?

- At an early age I was told that I had the gift of touch. I always kept that in mind and when I got older and tired of the regular 9-5 routine, I decided to go to school for massage therapy. I am glad I did, and haven't looked back. I also like helping people and this is one way that I can do it and see immediate results.

6
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?

- I do consider myself successful because of how I have matured in the business, the many satisfied clients I have and the positive feedback that I received.

7
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?

- One of my hobbies is travel and meeting new people.
I started taking French a few years ago, but had to stop. I'd like to get back into it.
Let me know if you speak any French.

8
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?

- I love to travel. It is mostly for fun than work, but am open to doing more travel for work. If any of you have an interest in my massage and don't live in my area, let me know and maybe I could visit your area for work.

9
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!

- Yes, my first client out of massage school was at a gym. All I remember is that it was a female.

10
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?

- One thing that separates me from most others on this site is the number of years of experience I have under my belt, (over 20). I also do my best to offer a more affordable rate for those wanting to experience a massage on more of a regular basis, than just once every 6 months or so. Massage should not have to be a luxury.

11
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?

- I have been doing massage for over 20 years and I hope to continue at some degree until I can no longer physically perform massage.

12
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?

- I don't necessarily think extensive training is mandatory for a masseur starting out. I would definitely suggest a professional massage course(s), to learn about the body and proper massage techniques. You do not want to be uncertain in certain cases and unknowingly do harm to someone.
Although, the more you know, the better you become and the more you will have returning clients.
Also, prices should reflect your knowledge an experience.

13
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?

- Satisfied that they made the right choice by contacting me for their massage experience.
