ThierryNation's Personal Masseur InterviewLast Updated: Aug 01, 12:34
- That they just leave saying ‘wow, I feel light and relaxed’, with a big smile on their face
- This is essential for highly technical massages such as shiatsu or ayurvedic. In Californian massage, on the other hand, there is no manipulation or work on the joints, so the most important thing is to feel the muscular tension, and in all cases it is essential to ask the client about any pathologies or antecedents.
- I travelled a lot about ten years ago, but now I enjoy my house in the country more.
- For almost fifteen years, and probably for a few more: I still enjoy it just as much. I'll probably stop gradually, massaging only my regular customers and not taking on any new ones, but I've still got some time ahead of me I think.... lol
- No idea, and it would be pretentious of me to judge myself against my colleagues :)..... Except perhaps one thing, the most important thing: being free to massage when I want and how I want, without constraint or obligation. That's something my customers feel too, everything is free and spontaneous, with no acting and no pretence.
- To do it only if you enjoy it and have empathy for your customer. A good massage isn't just a series of technical gestures, it's above all about feeling what your client needs and taking care of them: after all, we don't exist in the equation...
- As I said at the very beginning, it was a bit by chance, and as I realised that I had what it took in my hands to feel and relieve my customers, it very quickly brought me a lot of satisfaction, and it's a good balance with my other activities.
- I try to do as much sport as possible to relieve tension and stress, I spend time with my friends, I read a lot, but I don't have enough time to go out to shows, even though there's so much to do in Paris.
- As I said in the previous question: relaxed, calm, totally zen and serene.... In short, I'm on cloud nine :)
- I simply listen to their bodies and the sensations they feel, and I'm delighted when they tell me after the massage that they feel drained, relaxed and soothed....
- Yes, I think so, because I take great pleasure in looking after my customers. Most of them come back to see me regularly, so tee tee. must not be too bad, and thanks to this loyalty, I'm very happy with the well-being I bring them :)
- Not really, in fact for me it's a complement. I have several professional activities, so I'm not obliged to massage for a living, so I only do it for pleasure, with no constraints, and I think my customers feel that. So if demand is quiet, and I massage less at times, I have the rest of my activities so that I don't feel frustrated or unoccupied.
- I started massaging almost by accident: it started as a joke with my usual masseur... He had aches and pains (a bit too many massages one after the other...), and I offered to try and relieve them by massaging his shoulders .... And he told me that I was predisposed, because I immediately had the right gestures to relieve sensitive areas
