TrevorJames's Personal Masseur InterviewLast Updated: Aug 06, 2019
- In LA, I tend to be a homebody, but I also love to travel. I've been to 32 countries and aiming for 60.
- I love the performance arts, so you might spot me at the Music Center in DTLA, or the Hollywood Bowl or some small theatre in a strip mall. I enjoy traveling and exploring new places and cultures and have traveled to 32 countries and counting. I thoroughly love cooking and entertaining and often host brunch, dinner and cocktail parties.
- I remember my first client very clearly. I was nervous and I could tell he was as well. He avoided eye contact, gave short responses to my questions and looked like he would run away any moment. Over the course of the massage, I got him to feel more at ease and comfortable enough to carry on a conversation. I could feel the tension melt away from his body, and his emotional cloud dissipate. He was so grateful at the end and had a big smile. We had a big hug to end the session.
- I have always been a tactile person and enjoy the skin-on-skin contact with another person. But when I give a massage, I am acutely aware that I am connecting with another person not only on a physical level, but also on an emotional and sensual level. I became a masseur to share the healing and renewing properties of a massage with others and especially people who might be touch-deprived.
- What a client feels when they leave depends on what they bring to the session. I usually tell people to come prepared to let go and connect with their senses. The skin is our largest organ and can be very sensitive if we are tuned into it. A massage by its very nature is physical, emotional and sensual, and a good masseur is able to sense the feedback the body gives and adjusts accordingly. I am delighted when a client leaves feeling not only relaxed, renewed and reinvigorated, but also having felt sensations they have never paid attention to before.
