- For treating and healing bodies that have suffered major trauma like a car accident, I'd say Yes, only those with extensive formal training and certifications should be treating those clients.
For other forms of therapeutic massage, yes, training and and knowledge of human anatomy is needed to be a successful healer, but it can be attained through means other than formal classroom training.
I learned through osmosis of being treated and relieving pain and tension within my own body as a dancer and skater. I'm also very intuitive. I've had many clients say my massage is better than what they had received at spas from certified massage therapist. I don't get stuck in 1 formal modality. I mix modalities and stretching along with distracting/pleasuring sensual touch that a spa therapist won't allow themselves to provide but are part of holistic healing.

- The ultimate is when a client leaves feeling like they just had a spiritual experience. They are pain-free, relaxed and totally blissed out after having a wonderful connection with another man.
