WillSwaggerSF's Massage Interview
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
I can definitely say I would miss them - I did indeed miss them the last five years while I worked on another project (autonomous vehicles). While working with robot cars was fun in many ways, it did not have the personal connection that working with people does.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
My goal is for clients to enjoy themselves and leave relaxed, satisfied, and happy.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
I have done massage on and off for over 15 years - it will always be a part of my life.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
Like anything that requires technique, you need discipline to be a great masseur. For most people, that is easiest done through training, for others it can be done with extensive practice and feedback. You definitely need one or the other.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
My goal is for clients to leave happy and satisfied. When a client leaves relaxed, I smile.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
Over the years I've traveled up to 75% of the time. I prefer to split my time between traveling and home. I go in spurts - sometimes on the road a lot, other times I enjoy being in the Bay Area and exploring the life here.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time I design and build stuff - everything from lighting, to art, from remodeling and rebuilding my cabin near Yosemite to making furniture. I game, I go out, I dance, but I don't sing unless the musics lout (this is done as a public service - you really don't want to hear me sing. ;-)
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
Absolutely successful - I enjoy what I do. The true measure of success in one way is having no regrets.
