Will_Xavier's Personal Masseur InterviewLast Updated: Aug 04, 2022
- I travel a couple times a year, usually for 2 weeks at a time
- Aside from my love of music, I like to cook - Italian French and a little Middle Eastern
I'm a native New Yorker, and have the dubious honor of having livd in all 5 boroughs
- I expect to achieve a level of relaxation on the part of the client, relief from soreness and a general sense of euphoria
- My belief is that ongoing training is important. It teaches you new techniques and reminds you of others from you past training that perhaps have fallen into disuse. I have worked with several LMT's over the years, even to this day to learn new skills and develop my style more.
- If having a number of repeat clients, and new ones surprised and satisfied with their experience on my table, then yes.
- For me giving a massage is a wonderful experience, a healing experience for both client and me. I would definitely miss it if I had to give it up.
- Relaxed and happy that he called on me
- I have been providing massage services to the gay community since 2005
- My first client was a younger asian client who wanted an 'older' man to give him a massage - he has called routinely every few months for 15 years since. We were acquaintances at the time and I had been talking about actually being a bodyworker, so he volunteered to be a practice subject..... something woke up inside and told me to keep going. It felt so natural, I had to ask myself "What took so long?"
- It helps that I am a 'mature' bodyworker. Older clients are more comfortable with me for that reason and younger clients looking for a 'real' massage are more confident that that is what they will get as opposed to a 'rub & tug' Clients discern very quickly that I am a genuine personality, I mean what I say, and say what I mean - I don't promise what I can't do, and I don't lie about my experience or qualifications
- If you cannot afford formal training, seek out a mentor who is willing to spend time with you teaching a modality. And like getting to Carnegie Hall, practice, practice, practice. Find a friend or more who would be willing to be your subject... focus on a specific area and expand to other parts of the body in successive sessions, becoming familiar as you go along with how everything is put together, feels and responds to your touch
- I'm a long time music fan, listening to all types
- After getting my first massage, I realized it was something I could do, and though due to personal obligations and my age at the time I could not consider formal training, I pursued training from licensed masseurs and obtained an extensive video training course - both of which I go back to routinely. I was assured early on by LMT's that I was a natural .
