WovenPath's Personal Masseur Interview
Last Updated: Dec 21, 2023

1
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?

- Alignment and Fluidity in their movement.
Content. Well loved, and amazingly relaxed.
Radiantly happy.

2
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?

- My love of and interest in the natural world has greatly informed my study of the environment of our human being. I work with plants and water ways in similar ways as I work with our tissues, lymph, and circulatory systems. I have been studying craniosacral therapy. It has been such a deepening of my understanding and experience of the fluid tides we experience through our woven fascia. This insight has helped me see into the webs of how both human bodies and the body of the land is so similar and familiar. Aligning the fascia with structures of muscle bodies, and balancing our structural integrity lends a grace to our mobility. This helping inform our whole experience, perception, and approach to the way we move through world.

3
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!

- I was fresh on the mainland after being in school on Maui for a year.
I was so glad to graduate and get out of Makawao. San Francisco in the early 2000’s. A great time.
A man called me for an out call at his home. He was tall and welcoming.

The massage was graceful and easy.
I remember feeling happy that all I had learned seemed to flow naturally through into our session.
He was gracious and generous.
Very much set the tone for my career.
I love being a masseur.
Happy grateful relaxed clients.
Big smiles.

4
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?

- Grateful.
Satisfied.
Deeply relaxed.

5
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?

- I believe so. It depends on what one’s perception of extensive training. The usual year course in school in the USA is a good groundwork. The usual 200 clinic hours is a good start.
I believe we are all capable of being fine massage therapists. It is human nature to touch and heal each other with our hands and bodies.
Wishing to massage a perfect stranger for an exchange of resources is a very interesting business. Showing up in a professional and ethical way and having an actual skill set to share takes a bit of work.
Talent is real.
If one is drawn to being a masseur then they have a special talent…
Giving to strangers.

6
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?

- I travel often. Massage has afforded me a very flexible schedule. I love travel and massage is a very easy way to connect with and help clients all over the world. I feel very calm and confident in that.

7
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?

- 18 years “professionally” since official graduation. I do not plan on stopping.

8
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?

- Nothing aside my own unique physiology and nature.
My energy in unique. Some of us are a good fit for each other. We have work to do.
Those are my clients.
If we are drawn together we can do some good work.
I listen deeply.
Im good at what I do.

9
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?

- Go to school.
Then forget all the names for everything and study the fluid tides of the body.
Then massage EVERYONE you know.
Have fun.
Get massage at leased once a week.
Stretch.

10
Why did you become a Masseur?

- I’ve always been a massage oriented person. It was the most natural career choice I could make.

11
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?

- I am an artist, I work with ceramics, wood, bone and all sorts of natural fibers.
I do ecological restoration with native plants.
I rest a lot.
I keep a dream journal.
I love to stretch and hike.

12
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?

- Very

13
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?

- I’ve always been into massage. I can’t imagine not accessing massage and the healing connection it brings. I don’t know about it being addictive. Very gratifying for sure. Bringing ease and joy and flexibility to men’s bodies is an experience I wish to be able to give for many many years to come.
