jerbeardallas's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
Well I decided to be a masseur because I lived in NYC in a crappy tiny apt and I needed to make extra money, so I decided to take night courses and became a massage therapist.
By the time I got out of school I had figured out that working for myself was the best and I set up shop (so to speak) out of my tiny apt. I placed an ad in a magazine and my very first client became a client for
6 years. I to this day still call him my friend.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
I consider myself a very blessed masseur, I have met some crazy people, but I have met some amazing lovely genuine people that made me laugh, made me smile, made me cry, made me look at my life and realize how every day can be amazing if we let it be.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
That I am a kind man, straight forward and honest. I don't beat around the bush and play games. If I give you my word then that means something binding to me. A hand shake still means something to me.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I am a HUGE dog lover, I have 3. Most don't ever even know because I am very clean and they have their own bedroom and know when I am working so they stay quiet.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
knowledge is power, no matter what you do.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I want them to walk out of my house knowing that I gave a shit about them. I want them to feel like we are friends and I care. Massage is personal and beautiful. I should be able to make you feel like a over sized cashmere sweater on a cold winters night. Yeah I'm mushy. I'm man enough to admit it. lol
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
I would only because I have been very lucky with clients. But there comes a time everything must end.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
Awesome like they have made a friend and have gotten a great massage and had a wonderful experience.
Why did you become a Masseur?
honestly for extra money, but sometimes we just don't know why we go in one direction until all the greatness hits us and then we step back and think wow that was worth it.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
know that you MUST love people and be prepared for the great clients and the aweful ones.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
nothing. I have met some amazing masseurs and honestly I can only be the very best masseur that I can be.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
20 years of massage and 27 of Interior Design. MMMMMMM well i guess ill quit when i when the lottery. Just riding the wave.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I have traveled all over the world. But I am a homebody as well.
