marktunnel's Personal Masseur InterviewLast Updated: Oct 16, 2015
- I want them to feel at peace. I want them to leave without having to stress over that project thats due at work, the bills that have to paid, or anything that might interfere with their quality of life at that moment. I want them to leave the stress at the door and simply enjoy life.
- The more bodies you put your hands on the more you will learn. Experience is very necessary and so is training. You need the experience in order to know how to apply what you have learned effectively.
- I have travelled a lot from San Francisco to Dallas Texas. I have always loved to get out and see new places and new people. Lately as I have been trying to settle into my practice I have remained more of a home body although I do a lot of out calls within the city.
- I have been a masseur for almost a year now and I plan on riding this great ride until the wheels fall off
- We are all different people and we all have our own individualized techniques. I have been told that I have a slow steady pace and that I have a great hands for energy work and balance.
- When it comes to school pick wisely. Not all of them are the same and some will benefit you and prepare you more than others
- Its funny because I never envisioned myself as being a masseur. A friend actually suggested that i should take a class and I wasn't really doing much at the time so I did. I loved every min of it. The hardest part for me was learning anatomy and physiology. I actually failed horribly on my first test and I almost gave up. I pushed myself in a way that I had never done before and I actually retook the test and got an A. One of my proudest moments.
- Theres so much it would be hard to figure out everything let a lone type it here.I enjoy reading, journaling, going to the gym, hikes , bike riding, laser tag, practicing new techniques on friends, museums, going to the beach, going to live shows (concerts, plays, and other events), going out for drinks, cooking ( another passion), walking around the city aimlessly.
- The best words I have heard from clients after a massage are " Im going to go home and sleep good tonight'. With the stress of everyday life insomnia has risen and not enough people are getting the proper rests that their bodies need. One of the great benefits of massage is that it sends a signal to the body to get out of the fight or flight mode which sometimes can be very stressful and go into a more relaxed state.
- Sad to say but I used to be extremely shy. Engaging in conversation would be like torture. As Ive gotten older my social skills have improved and I believe that beginning my massage journey has helped with that. It has made me more confident and self assured which is one of the reasons why I love it so much.
- I have more than a few loyal clients that depend on me and that a lone makes me feel like a success. Although i would like to grow and build my practice, if Im only able to help make one persons life just a little bit better then i would consider myself successful.
- I wouldn't know what to do if i couldn't massage anymore. Lol sometimes i find myself massaging my friends pets and i have even used my skills to remove tree sap from off my car ( the worse thing in the world i swear). In all honesty I have grown to love what I do and have found a new found respect in myself for creating a career that i can utilize to help people in their daily lives while also paying the bills.
- I actually don't remember my first but I do remember when I first started out. I was still in school learning and I wanted to get as much practice in as possible so I took on clients at home. At first I was really nervous stumbled through a few sessions although the clients couldn't really tell. Over time I got the hang of things and i couldn't get my hands on enough bodies. With every client i had i learned something new, and something to that i could improve upon.
