Aussie_Touch's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
While I was doing my massage training one of my friends was involved in a crash and had a sore neck. A week after her crash I pretty much cleared her body of the tension of the crash. It took me 2 hours though!
I was already doing massages on my friends before I did my training. Seeing how much I was able to help my friend after her car crash convinced me to continue doing massages.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
Touch is really important to me , so I feel a loss on the days I don’t do massage. The same is true for playing music as I do this most days too.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
I am successful in getting my clients to relax, so, yes.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I am a musician as well as a masseur. This has helped me to be sensitive to the needs of others. I listen well.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
I like my clients to feel relaxed and that the massage fulfilled their needs when they leave.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I like doing yoga and martial arts. In my spare time I go out for dinner or walk along the beach.
Why did you become a Masseur?
I love to touch other people, and started massage as a hobby when I was in college. My friends said I was good at massage so I eventually did training as a masseuse.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Being a masseur can be physically demanding, so you have to like massage to it properly. For any choice in life I suggest people follow where their heart leads them.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
I can vary my touch depending on what the client wants (and listen to what my client wants), and have the strength to do deep tissue work. As well as Swedish style massage I trained in reflexology so I can do a full one hour session on just hands and feet. I add reflexology to my general massage sessions.
I can add tantric energy work, where a client can be guided to move energy through their body while I massage. This can provide a very unique experience.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
I have been a masseur for over 20 years and will continue as long as my body can do it (as I like giving massages).
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I travel overseas twice per year typically, even though I am a homebody.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
For relaxing massage a person only needs a basic training, and a willingness to adapt their massage style to the needs of their clients.
Success often depends on marketing, so there are great masseurs out there who have few clients.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I always like my clients experience to be a positive one when they leave.
Some of my clients can barely drive when they leave as I get them to relax so much!
