BobbyDTR's Massage Interview
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
I consider myself extremely lucky to have great clients. I’ve been doing massage for many years now and love the journey I take with each client offering a great experience. It’s therapeutic for me as well. We both feel rejuvenated in the end.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
Over the years I’ve had many reactions after their first massage with me. From telling me it’s the best thing they’ve ever done for themselves to me addressing a particular pulled muscle that needed relief. My goal is to make sure I’m the highlight of the clients day, week, or month.
Why did you become a Masseur?
I loved getting massages because I felt like my mind, body, and soul went to a different place each time. I would forget about the daily stresses and just gave in so somebody can melt them away. I wanted to give that feeling to other people. I love the interaction that we have. I’m a therapist for my clients in more ways than one and I enjoy that.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
I feel like intuition is a big part of being a successful massage therapist. Every client is going to be different. Some want to converse while others want to be quiet. Some want to relax while others need more deep tissue penetration. A good massage therapist will listen and address the issues and concerns each client might have to make sure they get their desired outcome.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
I went to school for massage and learned so much about the human body. What feels good and ways to help clients stretch, move, etc. Continuing Education is important because as therapist we should keep learning to provide our clients the best experience.
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
Haha I remember being so excited and nervous. I’m glad he enjoyed it. Years later I worked on the same guy and he was so impressed at my evolution. Made me feel great!
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I’m extremely easy going and get along with everybody. Clients can feel at ease with me that they can tell me anything and discretion will always be utilized. I love the client therapist confidentiality relationship.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
Like they’ve taken the most relaxing journey the never knew they needed
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
I would say so. I love my clients and love making them feel better
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Listen to your clients. Study various massage modalities and techniques. Treat every body with respect
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Traveling is my passion
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
Approaching 10 years now and I’d like to do it for at least 20 more
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
Traveling is my life. Nothing makes me happier…. Except for a couple of things ;-)
