BodyworkByBrad's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
I decided to be a massage therapist during a college internship in the Athletic Training center for my University. While working on a student athlete with a calf injury they commented on my strength and skill and the heat coming from my hands. It clicked and I knew what I wanted to do after college.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
Yes and no. I enjoy helping to heal people but it takes a lot of energy out of you.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
Yes, I have helped heal many people.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
My intentions are always to help heal.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
I hope they feel relaxed, rejuvenated, healthy, informed/educated about their body and how it functions.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to play volleyball and tennis, hiking, would like to kayak and explore my city more as well as travel near and far.
Why did you become a Masseur?
I became a massage therapist to further educate myself about the human body and how it functions and heals itself in order to help others with their health and wellness goals.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Maintain good form/posture and you will last a long time, otherwise it is said to be a “7 year burnout”.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
My ability to connect with the body and intuition.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
I have been practicing for 16 years and I’ll continue until I can’t anymore.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
Definitely a homebody but I do enjoy travel.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
No, you can be successful without any training; it depends on your intentions and motivation.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I hope clients feel confident in their decision to have spent their time and money with me as well as looking forward to what they have planned next with intent to schedule with me again.
