BuckBestMasseur's Personal Masseur Interview
Last Updated: Aug 06, 2023

1
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!

- I have different 1sts.

When I was a P.K. in New Zealand, I learned/practiced romiromi at "Te Waka O Matariki" (The Canoe of the Pleiades: a Māori holistic health clinic in Whatawhata NZ) I was "thrown in" on group clinic day after sitting in several wananga (traditional learning) on marae (loghouse). Romiromi is traditionally done with 2-4 or more practitioners, so I was able to watch and learn and practice dynamically in real time. It was amazing, watching people cry tears of either psychosomatic catharsis) & JOY due to long awaited pain relief.

I was 16 then (10 yrs ago) but I was the bodyworker for my extended family since I was 4.

My first session "by myself" was under watch of my kaiako (teacher) whom insured proper form.

2
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?

- Elated, exhilarated & titillated while also deeply peaceful, relaxed, and tranquil. Synchronous activation of both sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.

3
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?

- YES!

Unless you're blind, or a child. You should supplement training from a seasoned practitioner in addition to learning intuitively through your own exploratory practice.

4
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?

- I travel to Cincinnati for school every Tuesday-Thursday night, can do outcalls before six or after ten thirty. I'm almost always available before 10:30, but can't give exact time until teacher hints at dismissal.

5
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?

- 8 years after a 2 year training.

It will continue until my homesteading project is 100% off grid, I've learned to hunt, have livestock down pat.

Want to learn Watsu (aquatic shiatsu) and Rolfing when I graduate LMT school and test for licensure.

I'm sure I'll phase out of erotic massage at some point, focus on rural retreat center and working on the whole aspects of a person.

6
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?

- No one else in the area does New Zealand Māori Romiromi.

7
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?

- Practice by sitting feet to feet, trying to connect intuitively and empathically with with the recipient. Learn to feel where their pain is.
Practice blindfolded so you're learning to touch exclusively from higher quality tactile sense.
Link up with me to learn romiromi and bodywork basics and even help me provide 4 handed massage experience packages for people.

8
Why did you become a Masseur?

- It was a natural gift I had so childhood, I was privileged to be given an opportunity to learn a very niche traditional modality.

9
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?

- Read niche, esoteric, occult & metaphysical books.

My spirituality is very important to me.

I am a total geek for all things Natural, Integral, Complementary, Alternative, & Holistic.

I make all kinds of potions and have a megalithic supplement regimen. Keeps me being a true saggitarius ♐. Half man 🤠 👞 Half horse 🐎🍆.

♂️ 😜

Turn up a little bit. Keep my vices within the societally acceptable triangle of 🌿 🚬 🍻 THAT'S IT. Tobacco is organic and I have my medical card. Moderation in all things.

Like Irish pubs, and generally chill low-key social scenes.

Currently finishing an Amish built tiny home cabin and figuring out sustainable off grid living. Got 5 acres full of 🦌, pawpaw trees, and wild berries. It's a lot of YouTube DIY and learning on the fly.

Slowly but surely, I'm becoming a Thoreau kind of renaissance man.

10
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?

- Exhilarated yet in a state of profound deep rest/recharge/relaxation. (Look up peak states studies, tantric is about achieving peak state)

I always tell clients to drink lots of water with electrolytes 72 hours after massage, and if they have a bath tub, take some Epsom salt baths. Keep everything circulating for maximal benefit.

I was taught that if the clients physical complaints are not resolved in 3-5 sessions one is not the right person for the job or the person doesn't want to improve. The point of mechanical therapy should be, in my opinion, to help the person not need to come back.

While I love my regulars, and this is less money in my pocket. I genuinely believe the goal of structural manipulation is to get the body in a healthful "self maintenance mode"

That being said, with my open-minded amicability to people's requests and desires. I also want the client to tell me what they want to feel before during and after and insure that is achieved to the best of reasonable human ability possible.

Tell me how you want to feel and what will make you feel it.

11
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?

- I've lived rural, suburban, urban and overseas. I'm not country enough to be a hilljack, but I'm not city enough to be metro. My mullet and 'good ol boy' aesthetic is prone to getting a lot of presumptions. If you have a redneck fantasy I can cater to it but DON'T PRESUME I'm a characature of the hick you have in your head. I grew up in Bama before NZ & (I'll spontaneously develop a draw when I cross the Mason Dixon line) and I live in Adams County OH so I get the culture of Appalachia 🛶🪕🎵 but I'm not an idiot. I'm a little country, but also a little hood (when I need to be 😏). I'm even more hippie yet even more educated, polite & professional. I carry myself well.
I'm amicable to most every preference if it's a win win situation. Mild to wild. Versatile switch. But I have arms, legs, & a torso with a heart and a head with brain attached to my 🍆,🏀 🏀, & 🍑. Treat me like a human being and I'll treat you however you want me to. 😈😇
Support my continuing education & long term biz plan and you've got a friend FOR LIFE. If that's what you want. It's ok if it's not though. I can be what you need me to be, for the right price.
I supremely respect people's privacy. AM DISCREET.

12
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?

- YES...

ABSOLUTELY. 😁

13
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?

- Is masseur service addictive? Depends on whether your parasympathetic (relax/regenerate) or sympathetic (find food/survive/breed) nervous system is being activated. With tantric service, I'm paradoxically peaceful yet primal. So both are being activated. I experience what the client does, profound relaxation with simultaneous exhilaration. Dopamine ("addictive more more juice" i.e. compulsive Facebook scrolling) circuit is activated and responsible for exhilaration. But I'm not addicted to what I do, because the open hearted connection and tantric sensual tactile exploration releases serotonin/oxytocin (relax/bonding/"it's okness" juice) too. It's empowering to empower others but it's not an addiction.

I'm on a trajectory to go from masseur to LMT (graduate December!) things will change for the sake of compliance. I'll miss the extracurricular fun, but I won't miss the debt and WERK it takes in my "escaping the rat race" efforts on my currently progressing rural farm and homestead in "South Ohiotucky" which I will get off grid. (Have rain collection, baby steps)

Would be nice to keep the extra special clients, but it would be a therapeutic massage with extracurriculars pro bono.
