1. Get trained: Before starting your professional career as a masseur, you need to receive proper training in massage techniques and theories, as well as anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology. You can earn a certificate or a degree in massage therapy from accredited schools that teach programs in line with your country's or state's standards and regulations.
2. Develop strong interpersonal skills: Being a masseur requires working closely with clients, so you need to have strong interpersonal skills. You should be able to establish a rapport with clients, make them feel comfortable, and communicate with them effectively, including being able to explain massage techniques or suggest stretches and exercises for between appointments.
3. Gain practical experience: After completing your massage therapy training, look for opportunities to gain practical experience in the field. You may consider taking an apprenticeship or internship, working as an assistant to an established masseur, or volunteering at a local charity event. This can help you gain additional hands-on experience, refine your skills, and build your clients' confidence in you.
