DaddyBearRub's Massage Interview
Why did you become a Masseur?
I truly love touch and making people feel amazing and fantastic! Although I am not classically trained or am a CMT, I have been told my technique is great, I’m VERY intuitive and extremely tactile. I just really enjoy touch and mutual touch :)
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
I don’t think so. I have been doing this on and off for a few decades. I have been lucky enough to have had some really outstanding massages and some really horrible ones by both certified and non certified providers. I think it’s more about your passion and love for doing this and your experience over the training aspect.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
So far the most common comments I have received has been, “wow that was pretty amazing, one of the best experiences I have had, man you really knew where and how to touch me, and….love the hairy body ;) it does feel great rubbing your chest!
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I’m a chef so I love cooking, traveling…I have been all over the world, languages, politics, wine and of course binge watching Ru Paul!
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
Well I think first off, I am super kind, nice, approachable and calming. I am definitely a 100% giver…during and not during a session :). I’m really down to earth, no drama and no judgement. I like to reflect this attitude in my massages as well. Every experience is totally designed for you, I don’t follow a regimented process but instead I listen to your verbal and non verbal responses to my touch and a lot of honest communication during the massage. It really makes for a great experience
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
OMG I want then to leave feeling AMAZING! Since the experience is designed to the client the do leave feeling relaxed, refreshed, revived and usually VERY happy :) I always follow up after with the client to make sure that are feeling great and satisfied.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
I have been doing this on and off for the past 30 years and absolutely love what I do. Bring pleasure to others truly excites me and makes me happy
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I normally work out of my apt in Simi Valley but will travel based on my schedule. There is something to be said for having this done in your place so that when we r finished and you are relaxed, relived and drained you can just chill or go to sleep without getting dressed and in your car. With that being said sometimes it’s easier to come to me, have a great and private experience and then head home.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
I think it’s my ability to read a person, what they want, what feels good and such. I truly don’t have a pre-envisioned massage session mapped out but really focus on what your body and sounds that u make and that guides the session. Some guy like a lot and intense of glute work and some do not, I listen to your body and your reactions to lead the experience
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
I sure do and I was so nervous. The great thing is that he was so reassuring and positive and gave me really honest feedback that it was great. That’s something that I still do for all of my massages, I elicit feedback before, during and after the session so that I constantly am making sure that you are getting exactly what you want. The last thing that I want is someone to leave and think, “wow it was great but I really wished he had touched me ‘there’ or I wish he spent more time on my…”
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
I love it :(
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
Based on the client comments and feedback I get I would say yes and with that said I still learn and grow in doing this
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
If it’s something that you love go for it. Just be honest with yourself if it’s something you are good at :)
