DarenForrest's Massage Interview
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
I've been massaging and taking different body work classes since i was 27, so I'd have to agree.. I always come back to it.. usually out of pleasure over business
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
I've been doing body work for over a decade and have lots of return clients, so sure.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
massage is not my main work. I'm an artist, painter, tattoo, etc. I've worked around the world, so massage is a great trade I can carry with me while visiting other cities/countries.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
massage is really a hobby...what most would consider a hobby is my profession. I get to paint and draw all day.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
Relaxed and Relieved.
Why did you become a Masseur?
I was young and single, living in Hawaii. I saw a lot of military and tourist trade, so massage was very fulfilling and lucrative
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
take all the classes, listen to the persons body. Do not get into routine, everyone's body is different and deserves to be treated with a customized massage.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
I pay attention to my clients needs. Every massage is different. I offer varied pressure, and multiple styles, from sports to lomi lomi.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
12 years... I believe if you are good at something you should never stop doing it
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
my career allows me to travel as I please. I'm renound as an artist so before the pandemic, I was in the airport every two weeks, hoping from city to city, country to country sharing my work.
Now I am more settled, but I am very much a vagabond at heart, I'll be traveling for life, I'm sure
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
everyone is different. I've had terrible massages from trained professionals with hours of classes and I've had some phenomenal massages from guts with no training.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
Rejuvenated.
